LPC, 12 years of experience
I have ten years of working in residential care, where I've been blessed to work with adolescents and their families. Typically, when one seeks residential care for their children, they feel hopeless, vulnerable and judged. It was my privilege to assist families in reframing these feelings and coming alongside them and their children to provide healing within the family system. "Meraki" means to do things with soul, creativity and love; I feel these three things provide a warm, safe counseling environment as people battling mental health issues, trauma or family conflict are able to heal. I am skilled in providing emotional and physical regulation, and utilize a trauma informed approach to addressing conflict within families, anxiety, depression, PTSD and more. I provide individual, marriage and family counseling sessions. I believe the decision to begin counseling can be difficult and scary. However, it is a brave first step that can improve a person's quality of life as they begin to process and heal from past/present hurt.
Clients can expect a safe, warm, nonjudgemental encounter where they are able to process difficult situations or feelings.
I am experienced with adolescents and families, as well as women's issues, parenting and trauma. I appreciate having a wide variety of clients, rather than focus solely on one group.
Often times, identifying a specific feeling and then what led to that feeling can assist a client in reframing an experience. This allows them to change thought patterns/cycles in a way that decreases unwanted feelings.
EMDR assists the brain in fully processing disturbing/unwanted memories or experiences.
Assisting clients in understanding trauma's impact on experiences allows clients to view experiences, past and present, differently.
