I am Jessica Gonzalez, a licensed mental health therapist and doctoral candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision with over a decade of experience working with individuals, families, and communities impacted by trauma, life transitions, and systemic stress. I specialize in culturally responsive, trauma informed care and forensic and immigration psychological evaluations, and I am especially passionate about supporting BIPOC, immigrant, and marginalized communities. My work blends clinical depth with compassion, helping clients feel seen, understood, and empowered as they navigate healing, growth, and major life transitions.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Your first session is really just a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what’s been going on in your life. We’ll go over what brought you in, what you’re struggling with, and what you’d like to work on. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your story, but you’re always in control of what you share. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out. We’ll take things at your pace and start building a plan together in a way that feels supportive, safe, and doable.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strength as a therapist is my ability to truly see and understand the whole person, not just the problem that brought them in. I listen deeply and with care, and I work to understand your story in all of its layers: your experiences, your relationships, your culture, your history, and the emotional world you carry inside. I believe therapy is not just about learning coping skills, but about making sense of yourself and your life in a way that brings clarity, compassion, and real change. I take time to explain what is happening and why, so you feel informed, empowered, and involved in your own healing process. My clients often share that they feel deeply heard, supported, and more grounded after our work together. I bring a warm, trauma informed, and culturally responsive approach, and I am especially comfortable working with complex life situations, major transitions, and experiences of trauma or chronic stress. My goal is for you to leave therapy not only feeling better, but feeling more connected to yourself, more confident in your choices, and more hopeful about your future.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work best with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or at a meaningful turning point in their lives and want to better understand themselves and create lasting change. Many of my clients come to me feeling anxious, emotionally drained, or disconnected from themselves or their relationships. I am especially well suited for people who want more than quick fixes and are open to exploring the deeper patterns and experiences that shape how they think, feel, and relate to others. Together, we focus on building both insight and practical tools so you can feel more grounded, confident, and steady in your life. I also have extensive experience working with clients from multicultural and immigrant backgrounds and with those who have felt unseen or misunderstood in other systems. If you are looking for a therapist who will listen deeply, respect your story, and walk with you through meaningful change, we will likely be a good fit.
