Hi, I'm Emily Hoelscher, a Licensed Professional Counselor with twenty two years of experience in the state of Texas. I have experience working with adults, adolescents, and children both in individual and group settings. In addition, I specialize in working with couples and families. I believe the best treatment comes from establishing trust in the therapeutic relationship. You want to make sure you feel comfortable and that I am the right fit for you as a counselor. In counseling, I aim to be supportive and compassionate, while actively listening to and respecting the issues that my clients are facing. I want to meet my clients where they are at, whether it be in struggles or encouraging achievements as counseling progresses. My counseling style combines strength-based, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused approaches to help individuals achieve their therapeutic goals. Identifying one's strengths and coping skills that can be used to help work through various issues is an important part of my therapy approach. In counseling, I want to see my clients have hope for their future, and that from the therapeutic relationship that they gain skills and confidence to manage what may come in life. If you feel like I would be the right counselor for you, I would be honored to work with you.
In our first session you'll share with me what brought you to counseling and an overview of what issues are most pressing for you. The most important thing is that by the end you can decide if you feel comfortable with me as your counselor. From there, we will partner together to come up with a plan for concrete change for your life.
I truly enjoy working with my clients and believe that in counseling we share a sacred space when you trust me with your life's story. I am here to listen, help, and be a safe place for you to be able to open up.
I truly enjoy working with motivated clients who are open to honest discussion and trying ideas to help cycles they may feel stuck in. This can include, but is not limited to, exploring old family patterns, trauma responses, anxiety, depression, grief, conflict resolution and faith issues. I work alongside my clients to discover and develop goals that best serve their needs.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past twenty years. It has helped countless clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
Christian Counseling
I offer faith based therapy for anyone who wishes to talk through it in our sessions. I have found it to be incredibly helpful for therapy to be a safe space for my clients to talk about questions or issues they have in their faith journey.
Attachment-based
I have experience in discussing attachment styles that are developed over time and how they affect current relationships.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Exploring a client's family of origin can be helpful at times to identify current patterns of behavior in present day relationships.
Grief Therapy
I am experienced in offering grief counseling for those who have found themselves struggling with change or loss in their lives.

Emily is honest, a great listener, gives Biblically based advice when asked for, she shines a true light on solutions that leave you feeling at peace and not discouraged or worried if you made the right choice. I now walk through life feeling more sure of myself and confident in the decisions I've made. My faith has strengthened and so has my determination to break unhealthy habits that were tearing me down instead of building me up to be who God has planned for me to be. She is truly gifted!

I was hesitant to start therapy for a long time, but my first session with Emily made me wish I had started sooner. She is clear-sighted and was already able to pick up on key parts of my personality and help me begin to see root emotions in situations that have felt confusing and complicated for a long time. Highly recommend!

Emily is very open minded and easy to talk to. She is warm and I feel comfortable sharing anything with her. She has a way of re-framing things that I'm struggling with to give me a different perspective which often helps. She is skilled at helping me come away from my sessions with a detailed plan of how to respond to problematic situations or mindsets. She has been such a blessing to me! I definitely recommend her if you are looking for a therapist!
