About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in North Carolina, with over 10 years of experience as a School Social Worker. I earned my Master’s degree from the University of New England and bring both professional expertise and personal resilience to my work. As an African American psychotherapist, wife, and mother of two, I understand the complexities of balancing multiple roles. Overcoming early motherhood at 16 shaped my strength and passion for helping others. I specialize in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and support individuals of all ages and backgrounds in navigating life’s challenges, with a special focus on the unique experiences women face.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is about getting to know each other and building a foundation for our work together. Here’s what you can expect: Introductions & Building Comfort: I’ll share a bit about my background, approach, and how I work. You’ll also have the chance to share what brings you to therapy and anything you’d like me to know about you. Confidentiality & Consent: We’ll review confidentiality, your rights as a client, and any necessary consent forms, so you feel safe and informed. Assessment & Gathering Information: I’ll ask questions to better understand your current concerns, personal history, and goals for therapy. This helps me tailor sessions to your needs. Setting Goals: Together, we’ll identify what you’d like to work on and outline some initial goals. Explaining the Process: I’ll walk you through what sessions typically look like, including length, frequency, and the types of strategies or interventions we may use. Questions & Concerns: You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions or share any concerns you may have about therapy. Next Steps: We’ll schedule your next session and may set some small starting tasks to support your progress between sessions. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable and understood as we begin this journey together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a therapist, I believe my strengths lie in creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel truly heard and understood. I bring deep empathy and active listening to every session, allowing me to connect with clients on a meaningful level. My strong communication skills help me provide feedback and guidance in a clear, compassionate way. I am also committed to cultural competence, honoring and respecting the diverse backgrounds and experiences of every client I serve. With patience and flexibility, I adapt my approach to meet each individual’s unique needs and pace of healing. My resilience and ethical judgment ensure that I remain grounded, professional, and focused on supporting clients as they work through life’s challenges. By combining these strengths with proven therapeutic methods, I help clients build skills, gain insight, and move toward lasting growth and balance.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Welcome to a space created for healing, growth, and balance. I am especially passionate about working with women who are managing the everyday challenges of life—balancing work, home, children, relationships, or transitions such as divorce. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward, and together we create a path toward relief, clarity, and empowerment. I also work with individuals who are navigating the lasting impact of childhood trauma, whether recent or unresolved. Trauma can shape how you see yourself and interact with the world, but it does not have to define your future. Through trauma-informed, compassionate care, I help clients process their experiences, build resilience, and rediscover peace and self-worth. Why Clients Choose to Work With Me I lead with empathy and understanding, creating a safe, judgment-free space where you feel heard. My approach is personalized—we build a therapy plan that fits your unique needs and goals. I use evidence-based practices, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), to support meaningful progress. I provide a confidential, supportive environment where you can work through challenges at your own pace. Take the Next Step If you’re ready to begin your journey of healing and growth, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Together, we can navigate life’s struggles, heal past wounds, and move toward a brighter, more resilient future.

A lifesaver. An amazon source of truth, clarity and grounding. She's non-judgemental and creates such a safe space. I never feel I need to hold back, sometimes I come with notes to update her on what's happened with me :). She's thre reason I believe and know therapy works!

What brought me to therapy was the fact that I was going through depression. Most individuals who are struggling find it difficult to find a therapist who they fit well with. Dr.Thomas and I were a great fit, and I am leaving therapy having all the tools necessary to combat daily stressors, triggers as well complacency.
