Hello! I’m Michelle, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Texas. I received my Master’s from the Houston Graduate School of Theology and have been practicing for over 9 years. I understand the unique challenges that individuals face and strive to offer support that is both empathetic and effective. I specialize in addressing anxiety, depression, women’s health, trauma, stress, and relationship challenges. My goal is to help my clients develop strategies to manage these issues and improve their overall well-being. My approach is holistic, considering the emotional and psychological factors that contribute to a person’s overall state. Working together, we can create a personalized plan that empowers you to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals. I am committed to making a positive impact on your life by providing the tools and support you need to thrive.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Here’s what you can expect in our first session together: — Warm Introduction: We’ll start with a brief introduction to get to know each other. I’ll share a bit about my background and approach, and you’ll have the opportunity to share what brings you to counseling. — Confidentiality and Comfort: I’ll explain the confidentiality policies to ensure you feel safe and secure. Your privacy is my top priority, and everything we discuss will remain confidential. — Understanding Your Needs: We’ll discuss your current challenges, goals, and what you hope to achieve through counseling. This is a time for you to share your story and for me to listen and understand your unique situation. — Assessment and Planning: I’ll ask some questions to get a clearer picture of your mental health and well-being. This helps in creating a personalized plan tailored to your needs. We’ll set some initial goals and discuss the steps we’ll take to achieve them. — Building Trust: Establishing a trusting relationship is key. I aim to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you feel comfortable expressing yourself. — Next Steps: We’ll outline what future sessions might look like and discuss any questions or concerns you may have. You’ll leave with a sense of direction and a plan for moving forward.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have extensive experience with CBT, which focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. In my practice, I use CBT to help clients manage anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues by teaching them coping strategies and problem-solving skills.

Couples Counseling

I have worked with numerous couples to improve their relationships through effective communication and conflict resolution strategies. In my practice, I use couples counseling to help partners understand each other better, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their emotional connection.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I have utilized SFBT, which emphasizes finding solutions in the present time and exploring one’s hope for the future. I use SFBT to help clients set realistic goals and develop actionable plans to achieve them, focusing on their strengths and resources.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I am experienced in TF-CBT, a specialized form of CBT for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma. In my practice, I use TF-CBT to help young clients process traumatic experiences, develop coping mechanisms, and improve their emotional and behavioral responses.

Eclectic

I have a diverse background in various therapeutic approaches, which allows me to integrate techniques from multiple modalities to best meet the needs of each client. In my practice, I use eclectic therapy to tailor my approach based on the individual client’s issues, preferences, and goals. This flexibility enables me to draw from methods such as CBT, EMDR, SFBT, DBT, and others to provide a personalized and effective treatment plan.
