(he/him)
I'm Uche Obu, PMHNP-BC, and I work with adults and teens dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or exploring medication options for the first time, I offer a supportive and informed space to help you feel better. I use a collaborative approach to help you understand your symptoms and explore treatment that fits your goals and lifestyle. Let’s find a path forward together. My approach blends medication management with supportive psychotherapy, and I prioritize collaboration, working together to develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your goals and values. Whether you're taking the first step toward mental wellness or continuing your journey, I’m here to walk alongside you with empathy, respect, and care.
During our first session, patients can expect a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space. I’ll begin by getting to know you—your concerns, personal history, current challenges, and what brings you to care. We’ll explore both your mental and physical health background, including any past treatment experiences. This session is about building trust, understanding your goals, and starting to form a personalized treatment plan. You’re encouraged to ask questions, share at your own pace, and know that this is a safe space to begin your mental health journey.
One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and genuinely supported. I take a compassionate and collaborative approach, meeting clients where they are and helping them feel empowered in their treatment. My strong clinical knowledge, paired with attentive listening and a calm, grounding presence, allows me to assess needs holistically and provide care that is both effective and individualized. I’m also highly adaptable—able to balance evidence-based medication management with therapeutic interventions to meet each client’s unique goals and preferences.
I typically work with adolescents and adults navigating a range of mental health challenges. I am most comfortable treating conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and mood-related concerns. Many of my clients are working professionals, students, or parents seeking support with emotional regulation, life transitions, and stress management. I also have experience working with individuals managing co-occurring conditions and those looking to better understand their mental health through a holistic, personalized approach.
Faith based therapy
n addition to evidence-based psychiatric care, I also offer a faith-integrated approach for clients who wish to incorporate their Christian beliefs into treatment. With years of experience working with individuals in both clinical and faith-based settings, I understand the importance of spiritual well-being as part of overall mental health. My background in Christian counseling allows me to integrate biblical principles, prayer (if desired), and spiritual reflection into sessions when appropriate. I respect each client’s personal faith journey and always let them guide how much or how little they would like spirituality to be part of their care. This approach may include exploring forgiveness, purpose, identity, and hope from a Christ-centered perspective—especially in times of emotional distress or life transitions. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or daily stress, I strive to create a safe space where clinical care and faith can work hand in hand to promote healing and restoration.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Couples Counseling
In couples counseling, I help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and navigate emotional or relational challenges in a supportive and structured environment. My approach focuses on identifying patterns in the relationship that may be contributing to conflict or disconnection and working collaboratively to develop healthier ways of relating. I use techniques to help couples better understand each other’s perspectives, manage conflict more effectively, and strengthen emotional intimacy. Whether a couple is navigating stress, parenting challenges, unresolved resentment, or major life transitions, I aim to provide tools that foster deeper connection, clarity, and mutual support. My goal is to create a safe, neutral space where both partners feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow—both individually and together.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I incorporate mindfulness-based therapy to help clients build greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations in the present moment. This approach encourages clients to observe their internal experiences without judgment, which can reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and enhance clarity in decision-making.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing as a collaborative and goal-oriented approach to help clients explore and resolve ambivalence about change. This method supports clients in identifying their own motivations, values, and strengths, empowering them to take meaningful steps toward their personal goals. Rather than pushing for change, MI focuses on meeting clients where they are, using open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirmations to enhance self-awareness and confidence. It is especially effective for clients navigating behavioral changes, such as improving mental health habits, managing medications, addressing substance use, or adjusting to life transitions.
