About me

Mental health care should go beyond simply treating symptoms. I believe in understanding the whole person and recognizing how mental, emotional, and physical well-being can influence one another. I’m Dorian, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who believes that meaningful care begins with listening, understanding, and meeting each person where they are. My broad clinical background allows me to look beyond a diagnosis and consider the many factors that may be affecting how you feel and function each day. No two people experience mental health challenges in the same way, which is why I take the time to understand your concerns and develop a treatment approach that is personalized to you. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable being open about what you’re experiencing. When medication is part of your treatment, we’ll work together to find an option that fits your individual needs while carefully monitoring effectiveness, progress, and any concerns along the way. I believe you should understand your treatment—not simply be told what to take. Through education, open communication, and shared decision-making, my goal is to help you feel confident in your care and supported as you work toward greater stability and overall well-being.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first session, we’ll take time to understand what brought you to care, your mental health and medical history, current symptoms, and any medications you have tried in the past. We’ll also discuss what is working, what isn’t, and what you hope to achieve through treatment. From there, we’ll develop an individualized treatment plan that may include medication, lifestyle recommendations, and referrals for therapy or other services when appropriate. My goal is for you to leave your first visit feeling heard, informed, and clear about the next steps in your care.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my strengths include thoughtful psychiatric assessment, individualized medication management, and patient education. I take the time to listen and understand how your symptoms are affecting your everyday life rather than focusing solely on a diagnosis. I believe effective treatment is a partnership. Together, we will monitor your progress, discuss concerns or side effects, and make thoughtful adjustments when needed. My goal is to help you find a treatment plan that supports greater stability, clarity, and quality of life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with adults seeking medication management for concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, mood changes, and sleep difficulties. You may be starting psychiatric treatment for the first time, struggling with symptoms despite previous treatment, or simply looking for a provider who will take the time to listen and explain your options. I work best with clients who value a collaborative approach and want to better understand their medications and mental health. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can work together to determine the next steps and develop a treatment plan that feels appropriate for you.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

During our visits, I incorporate brief supportive and cognitive-behavioral strategies to help you better understand how your thoughts, emotions, and daily experiences may be affecting your mental health. We may discuss current stressors, identify helpful coping strategies, and explore practical ways to support your overall well-being. Along with this support, I provide personalized medication management based on your symptoms, medication history, treatment goals, and individual needs. We will monitor how your medications are working, discuss any side effects or concerns, and make thoughtful adjustments when needed. I also provide education about your diagnosis, symptoms, medications, and treatment options so you can feel informed, confident, and actively involved in your care. My goal is to provide treatment that is collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping you achieve greater stability and improved daily functioning.

I only had one session with Dr. Dorian, but she’s already the best psychiatrist I’ve ever had. She’s incredibly warm, kind, and thoughtful, and she really listens and tries to understand me. I felt comfortable and truly heard, which hasn’t happened before. Thank you.

I was nervous when my insurance switched me to Dorian, but she was warm, easy to talk to, and really listened. I worried she’d change my meds, but she respected that I’m stable and kept them the same. She asked thoughtful questions, offered support, and made me feel safe and understood. What could have been a stressful transition became a positive experience, and I’m grateful to have a provider who truly cares.
