I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my master's degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and I have been practicing for 10 years. I help adolescents and adults struggling with mental health problems stemming from traumatic life experiences and circumstances out of their control. I offer a compassionate and client-centered approach to therapy that utilizes both holistic and evidence-based practices.
In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions and then dive into your specific challenges. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. It's vital that you find a therapist you are genuinely comfortable with who can partner with you on your healing journey. Understanding this, I offer a complementary phone consultation to help you decide if we are a good fit for each other.
I advocate a unified approach to mental health and wellbeing and I offer clients a combination of different modality options. As I often tell my clients, therapy is not a “one size fits all” approach. I aim to establish an authentic partnership with clients and their families in order to tailor my methods and techniques to fit their unique situation. I truly believe in educating my clients not only about their mental health concerns but also how various negatives affect our minds and bodies. I encourage honesty, openness, empathy, compassion, and mutual trust.
I love working with clients who feel unbalanced and struggling with life circumstances out of their control. I am passionate about helping men and women in their journey to becoming parents. I deeply understand how complex infertility issues are and my work is dedicated to providing hope even in the deepest moments of confusion and grief. My background in the medical field has equipped me to hold space and help those clients navigating chronic conditions and medical complexities.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) uses eye movements to help the brain process trauma stored in the neural network. Trauma can manifest as anxiety, stress, and negative self-talk, affecting quality of life. EMDR helps access and process unprocessed trauma, opening new channels for healing.
Awareness is crucial in processing daily ideas, emotions, and encounters. Have you ever questioned your awareness of pain or confronted your shortcomings and fears to see if they truly exist? MBSR helps you explore and understand yourself through mindful awareness, focusing on living in the present and fully experiencing each joy and pain. Through MBSR, you will appreciate being alive and gain a deeper understanding of your sense of self.
As the most commonly used therapy today, CBT helps to change your thought processing. This therapy uses a specific formula to challenge your thoughts and create different outcomes in your behaviors and feelings.
ACT helps to distinguish a sense of self that is continuous, safe, and consistent, and from which the client can observe and accept the flow of internal experiences. ACT helps the client flexibly take perspective toward himself, others, and his own experiences to facilitate the ACT flexibility processes, as well as compassion and empathy. The client learns how to approach life in a fluid and flexible way while setting up the goals toward fulfilling and meaningful lives he/she can create for himself/herself.
