Hello, I'm Michele DiSorbo, a licensed mental health counselor with 25 years of experience and a certification in Mind-Body Medicine, Hypnotherapy, NLP Coaching, Transformational Coaching, and Somatic Counseling. I am also trained in CBT, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and various couple's therapy modalities. I specialize in helping young adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults navigate life transitions, manage anxiety and depression, improve self-care and self-confidence, and address relationship issues. My approach integrates a variety of therapeutic techniques to support clients in achieving personal growth and healing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where you can feel safe and supported. I will take the time to listen to your concerns, understand your goals, and begin to collaboratively create a treatment plan that meets your unique needs. You can expect to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a non-judgmental way, and begin to develop skills and strategies to improve your mental health and overall well-being.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My diverse training and experience in various therapeutic modalities, allows me to tailor my approach to meet each client's individual needs. I have an ability to integrate mind-body techniques, such as breathwork, guided meditation, hypnotherapy and somatic counseling, into traditional talk therapy, providing a holistic and comprehensive approach to healing. With 25 years of experience and a passion for helping clients reach their highest potential, I bring a depth of knowledge and expertise that makes me well-equipped to guide clients on their journey towards personal growth, healing, and transformation.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My passion is to work with college students, professionals, parents and retirees who I help to reduce stress, overwhelm, and burnout; improve self-confidence, self-esteem, and effectiveness; improve mastery of their thoughts, emotions, and behavior; and get unstuck and become highly successful in the areas of life that matter most to them. I love to help people navigate relationship struggles and get clarity on the direction of the relationship; improve communication, trust, and closeness; and recover from a breakup or infidelity. Overall, I want to help people reach their highest potential and live a life of passion, purpose, peace, and prosperity.

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have found mindfulness-based therapy to be incredibly effective in helping clients become more present and aware of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. I integrate mindfulness practices such as deep breathing, body scans, and meditation into sessions to help clients develop a greater sense of self-awareness and emotional regulation.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is one of the cornerstones of therapy practice as it focuses on challenging and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. I use CBT techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral experiments, and homework assignments to help clients identify and modify unhelpful beliefs that contribute to their distress.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool that I use to help clients access their subconscious mind and create positive changes at a deeper level. I guide clients into a state of deep relaxation and suggest therapeutic ideas and imagery to help them overcome challenges, reduce anxiety, and improve self-esteem.

Trauma Informed Care

I approach therapy through a trauma-informed lens, recognizing the impact of past experiences on a client's mental health and well-being. I create a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore and process their trauma, incorporating techniques such as grounding exercises, mindfulness, and somatic experiencing to help them heal.

Somatic

Somatic counseling focuses on the mind-body connection and the ways in which emotional experiences are held in the body. I integrate somatic techniques such as body awareness exercises, movement, and guided self-touch to help clients release stored tension, regulate their nervous system, and cultivate a greater sense of embodiment and resilience.
