Hi, I’m Carrie Rimato, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist serving clients in the Greater Houston area, including Katy, Texas. My professional journey began in education—I earned my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Houston Christian University (formerly HBU) and spent over a decade teaching in both public and private schools. My passion for helping others grow eventually led me to pursue a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from The King’s University, which I completed in 2018. Since then, I’ve worked with individuals, couples, and families across various settings, including private practice, hospitals, and crisis centers. I take an eclectic, client-centered approach to therapy—drawing from EMDR, CBT, mindfulness, and family systems theory—to provide personalized care tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals. Whether you're working through anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, or relationship issues, my goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel supported, empowered, and heard. Outside the therapy room, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, watching a good movie, and traveling to any beach I can find—my favorite place to relax and recharge.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we’ll start with simple introductions and take time to get to know each other. I’ll walk you through the structure of the counseling relationship—covering things like confidentiality, boundaries, and what you can expect from our work together. From there, we’ll begin exploring the challenges you’re currently facing so I can gain a clearer understanding of your needs, goals, and what’s brought you to therapy. This initial conversation sets the tone for our work and allows us to begin crafting a personalized plan for future sessions—one that’s designed to support your healing, growth, and emotional well-being. For clients working through trauma or distressing life experiences, I may incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as part of the treatment process. I’m trained in EMDR and use it, when appropriate, to help clients safely process and move beyond painful or stuck memories.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Clients often describe my sessions as warm, caring, and supportive—while also being direct and encouraging. I strive to create a space where you feel safe to be your true self, while also being gently challenged to grow and move forward. Each session is guided by a few key goals: *To foster greater self-acceptance, personal growth, and authentic self-expression *To reduce negative emotions like defensiveness, regret, shame, insecurity, and guilt *To help you build deeper insight, trust, and understanding of yourself so you can make empowered choices aligned with your values I view therapy as a collaborative partnership—one rooted in mutual respect, honesty, and a shared commitment to your healing, growth, and emotional well-being.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I specialize in working with adults and teens who are navigating anxiety, depression, and identity-related challenges. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck—caught in cycles of negative thinking, struggling to set healthy boundaries, or overwhelmed by the emotional weight of daily life. They often feel emotionally drained, disconnected from themselves, or uncertain about who they are and where they’re headed. While they’re eager to grow and create change, they may not yet have the tools or clarity to move forward. In our work together, I help clients gain deeper self-understanding, build emotional resilience, and develop practical strategies for coping, boundary-setting, and practicing self-compassion. I offer a warm, collaborative space where growth, healing, and forward movement become possible—one step at a time.
