My name is Amy Cornell and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Pennsylvania and a National Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors. I work with adult clients via telehealth in the state of Pennsylvania, specializing in depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues, while utilizing a complementary approach to therapy comprised of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and Solution-Focused Therapy concepts. My approach to therapy is collaborative and based on client needs. I utilize a clinical orientation that integrates concepts and techniques emphasizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy to identify treatment priorities, personal strengths, natural supports, and create a path forward towards healing that works for each client.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT targets emotions by changing thoughts and behaviors that are contributing to the distressing emotion. My goal implementing this type of treatment is to help the patient identify how situations, thoughts, and behaviors influence emotions and improve feelings by changing dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

SFBT helps pinpoint current effective behaviors and find new ways to facilitate problem-solving by focusing on the details of the solution instead of the problem, developing an action plan that works for each patient. My goal implementing this type of treatment is to bring out the skills, strengths, and abilities that the patient already possesses.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

A person-centered approach by creating a grounded, supportive, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. I believe meaningful change happens when individuals feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace. My role is to provide empathy, consistency, and collaboration while helping clients increase self-awareness, identify patterns, and build on their own internal strengths and capacity for growth. This approach underlies all of my work and is integrated with evidence-based and practical interventions.

Integrative

An integrative approach to therapy is applied, supporting the connection between mental, emotional, and physical well-being. This may include incorporating lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, and stress management alongside evidence-based techniques. For clients who are interested, I also offer the option to include Christian faith in a thoughtful, grounded, and client-centered way.
