New to Grow
Hello! I studied social work at Lock Haven university and went on to continue my studies at Western New Mexico university. I pride myself in being an adaptable person who has had the privilege of experiencing many different life circumstances. I was raised in rural Pennsylvania and have recently moved back after 10 years in Philadelphia. I have maintained exceptional roles from previous employers within the field of social work. I bring curiosity and understanding to each session with the goal of helping individuals take one more step in their journey of self discovery and acceptance. I believe that exploring the depths of human complexity and emotion is a life long journey that can be difficult yet beautiful. I have most experience in working with individuals with eating disorders, anxiety, and depression as well as with families in the capacity of case management and family therapy. I have a pretty straight forward approach and would be asking the hard questions. My style is reciprocal in the sense that I would expect the same straight forward honesty from my clients. I hope to promote the idea that individuals can be their authentic self within the space that I would help create for them. I have had the privilege of working with different populations of people. I will always do my best to ensure that I can provide support that is compatible for the individual. My intention is to provide empowerment and support for anyone who is open to working on that with me.
A first session with me would be mostly questions for the individual that would help me get a better understanding of that person's life circumstances. I will ask about present and previous living arrangements, family, friends, career/career aspirations, hobbies, relationships, lifestyle, pets, etc. I will invite the person to ask me any questions that they may have about myself or my experience in the field. Something that I would want to know as your therapist is the kind of support that is helpful for you as well as what is not helpful.
My greatest strengths as a therapist are adaptability, flexibility, and openness to an eclectic approach to promote different approaches. As a therapist who also participates in therapy, I value prioritizing self care and participating in my own complex emotional journey. I feel as though I have taken on the role of emotional support from a young age and truly feel connected to the art of therapy and aiding others.
I am best positioned to serve individuals and family members of those with eating disorders with or without comorbidities. My ideal client is someone who is motivated to address any hardships that they feel are creating obstacles and challenges that are preventing them from moving forward in life. With family work, my main goal is to address any feelings of resentment that any family member may be holding onto towards another. For the time being, I will be available mostly in the afternoons and evenings. I would be the ideal therapist for someone who is seeking therapy sessions in the later hours of the day.

My experience with values exploration through individual and group therapy would enhance a person's ability to connect more with the values they pursue or would like to prioritize more. Part of my therapeutic process would be uncovering what those values are and enhancing an individual's view of how these values can contribute to their purpose in life. I can assist the individual with promoting acceptance of self without giving in to intrusive thoughts that can be overwhelming.
Within my former role, I have often discussed mindfulness practices or present focused awareness that can help improve interpersonal relations. I can help individuals with acknowledging how intense emotions can interrupt a person's intended behaviors. The goal would be to help clients communicate following moments that felt dysregulated. I would focus on improving a person's view of the self and others.
Exploring how emotions impact physical sensations was at the core of my work with those who have eating disorders. My goal is to create spaces that allow individuals to become their own observer of how emotions impact the body's physical sensations and a person's functioning. Some ways to promote this form of exploration are somatic tracking, exploring grounding techniques, and sensorimotor psychotherapy.
I formerly led trauma track therapeutic groups that offered psychoeducation to individuals with eating disorders. I helped individual's process impact statements focused on how events from the past had impacted their view of themselves and interpersonal relationships in the present. I help with uncovering how trauma has impacted a person's narrative of self and the world around them. The goal would be to uncover how to lean against confirmation bias in the direction of embracing kinder truths.
Understanding the depths and characteristics of the unique individuals I work with is my main priority. My goal is to always aid in a person's ability to carry out a meaningful life after uncovering what that would look like for the person. Uncovering what a person believes their narrative to be is a crucial step towards understanding what a person wants their narrative to be. Together we would find the steps to embodying that vision by challenging any feelings of shame, guilt, or doubt stemming from past experiences.
