Navigating relationships can be hard, can't it? Trying to figure out if you'd like to be in a relationship or questioning if you will ever marry or re-marry are thoughts that can be pervasive. Feeling satisfied and fulfilled in your season of singleness comes with its multitude of challenges. Making the decision to separate or divorce can be stressful. Life after separation, divorce or any relationship transition can initially appear to be overwhelming: family & friend transitions, co-parenting, career moves, and demographic changes just to name a few. You don't have to do it alone. You deserve therapeutic partnership to assist in making your best informed decisions in your life. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I've been in various consulting and counseling roles since 2005. I specialize in Empowering Individuals Through Life and Relationship Transitions by providing Individual Telehealth Talk Therapy via J. Nichol Counseling, LLC. My earliest appointment begins at 11am and my latest appointment starts at 3pm Monday-Friday.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first session, we'll review ground rules for confidentiality and clients will have the opportunity to create a goal or goals they'd like to meet in therapy. The first session for general outpatient therapy is typically 60 minutes and subsequent sessions are typically 53 minutes. I'm open to answering questions in order to assist client's in making their best-informed decision about selecting a therapist.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Having been a therapist who has assisted individual clients with relationship transitions and loss, it's been a personal mission for me to create a neutral environment as a platform of support.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are those who are currently trying to make a decision about a relationship or have decided to end their relationship or marriage. I also assist clients who have had infertility challenges and/or pregnancy loss. Please know I only provide individual therapy not couples and/or family therapy. Please also know I do not provide psychological evaluations or treatment in which documentation (court-ordered or otherwise) would be required. I do, however, specialize in care coordination for high acuity patients and those who were recently hospitalized secondary to having experienced a mental health crisis. I have extensive experience with conducting an initial assessment in order to create a care plan for a referral to a higher level of care. Please understand those appointments are generally 30 minutes in length.

Janine is super attentive and can often recall things discussed in previous sessions as it may relate to current sessions. I am very comfortable in every session and look forward to the next one. I feel good when our sessions end even after discussing sensitive topics.

Janine is an amazing and caring therapist, she was able to help me compartmentalize and understand my issue before diving into a plan to make improvements for myself and my relationship. I would highly recommend her, especially as someone who was brand new to receiving therapy prior to this experience.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution Focused Therapy is a form of therapy in which a client and therapist partnership is developed to assist in deriving solutions rather than focusing on the problem at hand. This method is the primary method used for the past 20 years.

Interpersonal

Interpersonal therapy has been used in my practice for the past 15 years as well. The focus is on a client's ability to relate to others and how those relationships impact life choices.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a technique in which questions are asked of a client during session in order to assist a client in reaching their best possible solution. This technique has been practiced by this therapist for the past 10 years.
