Hi! My name is Mikala and I am a Professionally Licensed (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I am also the Founder and CEO of Live Simply Therapy LLC. For the past six years, my work has been grounded in Community Behavioral Health, where I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of mental health needs. This experience has deepened my commitment to providing thoughtful, person-centered care. My therapeutic approach is integrative, focusing on the connection between mind, body, and spirit. I believe in addressing the whole person to foster meaningful, lasting change. Together, we will work to create a personalized path to wellness - one that supports healing, growth, and clarity. Let’s collaborate to simplify life, one thought at a time.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll explore what brings you to therapy, discuss how I can best support you, and assess your readiness and motivation for change. Together, we’ll establish meaningful goals that align with your personal values and vision for healing. As we progress, you can expect a collaborative and supportive environment where your growth is nurtured, and where therapy is tailored to your evolving needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength is the ability to empathize and connect with clients on a deep and authentic level. Informed by both clinical experience and personal growth, I bring a compassionate, grounded presence to each session. I am committed to helping clients build insight, restore confidence, and develop tools that empower them to take control of their lives, both during and beyond therapy.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am passionate about supporting individuals living with anxiety, and I have a particular affinity for working with mothers facing challenges such as parenting burnout, postpartum issues, work-life balance, and new parent transitions. I also work extensively with clients navigating grief, whether related to the death of a loved one, relationship changes, or other major life losses. My background includes helping individuals struggling with depression, low self-esteem, identity exploration within the LGBTQ+ community, relationship or marital concerns, caretaker stress, and recovery from domestic violence. I offer an inclusive, affirming space where each client’s experience is honored and respected.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT has historically helped my clients gain a better understanding of the influence thoughts have on emotions and behaviors. This has led to much success in managing negative thinking and simplifying life.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In this approach, I aim to create a safe and non-judgemental space for your self-exploration, and ultimately your self-awareness. Person-centered approach is effective, in that it allows you to lead and navigate in the discovery of your own solutions.

Faith based therapy

I believe wellness is rooted in the Whole person, connecting spirit, mind and body- ultimately creating a clearer path to complete wellness. Although I have training from a Christian perspective, I have worked with many individuals of different faiths over the years.
