As a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, I join in collaboration and congruency with my clients demonstrating warmth, empathy, and genuineness--fundamental to the development of a therapeutic relationship. CBT is designed to bring in balance with use of tools and resources based on functioning of the person. My personal philosophy of life for counseling is that 'serene tranquility' coupled with 'bringing in balance' is cornerstone to the rejuvenation of Hope. It is the road to recovery; for restoration of faith from doubt/grief/loss; for personal growth and development; for understanding self and functioning in relationships with others; and, with building self-confidence and -esteem geared towards recognizing inherent characteristic qualities of life: worth, value, and validation. CBT helps with understanding the functional roles of all emotions, both positive and negative, and their impact on behavioral responses. I believe that you are the expert and pilot of your own life; and, am here to assist you with navigating your life journey by providing a safe and caring space free of judgment as your life co-pilot. My approach is one of warmth, that is proven Results-Oriented.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session I work to guide my clients towards identifying a Treatment Plan moving towards Self-Efficacy and Self-Actualization with use of Goals & Interventions as a result of what my client shares as their reason for seeking mental health wellness. This is mostly accomplished by visiting with 'Talk Therapy' surrounding the client's concerns; and, including the therapeutic legal requirements regarding use of assessments to established the client's functional baseline; answering and attending to any of my client's questions regarding Informed Consent and legal mandates for Duty-to-Warn; establishment of safety plans with emergency contacts; and, a discussion of 'structure-of-engagement for: period of the episode of care; length of in-session time; recurrent or as-we-go scheduling, telehealth therapy via video or audio,' HIPPA compliancy for privacy and confidentiality, being in a safe non-judgmental space, and other needs/requests that the client may have.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am passionate about the work that I do and TRULY BELIEVE that it has been given to me as a Gift & Purpose of my life. I found the most gratifying professions to be those where I have been able to serve others -- each profession leading to the next one, from humble beginnings as a Teacher, to Counselor, and now Therapist in my years of wisdom (age! - haha!!). On a more personal note... In my spare time, I enjoy working out and strength training as part of my own personal self-care regimen, and an occasional outing on the town with my 25-year-old twins (they are fraternal—a male and female) is always nice! Here are a few 'Testimonials' from previous clients that I would like to share with you: 'Written on Sep 20, 2022 after therapy with Rastonya for 1 year and 10 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, sleeping disorders, self-esteem, anger management, career difficulties, coping with life changes, coaching, and ADHD "Rastonya is one of the sweetest people in the world. My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My Trained/Practiced Skill-Set; Theoretical Orientation - CBT I am trained and specialize in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); and, Brief Solution-Focused Intervention (BSF-i) which both are research-based, empirically validated, and evidence-based practicing skill-sets to provide care by: -Identifying root/core causes related to client's presenting concerns which may manifest as trauma, disconnection, dissociation, self-doubt, loss of hope, and others that can lead to in-crisis/life-threatening episodes, stress, anxiety, depression, co-dependency uncared for or unmanaged with intent; and, most all DSM-V symptoms of inclusion and diagnoses. This includes identifying and working to understand the client's functional information-processing system which involves problem-solving and decision-making as a result of conditioned behavior (automatic thought-processes, followed by feelings and emotions, and behavioral responses) Other integral parts of the CBT care experience are: -How the role of the environment impacts human existence, engagement, and relationships -Cultural Diversity: Understanding and helping the client to understand their value systems and self-worth and how the negative and positive polarities influence their internal processing system, worldview, and responses to environmental systems -Resolving conflict in relationships with others to build healthy relationships with exploring boundaries, the steps to rules of engagement, and the varying types of relationships -Self-Acceptance: which involves stepping stones of self-esteem, self-confidence, self-understanding leading to self-efficacy, and self-actualization -How the 4 Phases of the Lifespan play dynamic roles in the growth/engagement/decline processes. Essentially, the CBT Model (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) consists of 4 indicators: 1) Environment 2)Thought-perception 3)Feelings/emotional-processing 4)Behavioral responses which often align with the four preferences of personality-type development.
