I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor in NC. I have been practicing since 1996 as a counselor and prior to that in as a Pastor. Don't let that scare you! I don't push my beliefs on anyone but feel honored to walk along side those who are grieving, seeking to learn to manage stress and anxiety better, who are walking through life's transitions or who are struggling with their identity ( gender and otherwise).

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will spend a bit of time getting to know each other and begin to learn to trust. Then we will dive into the concerns that you are experiencing to begin the work of reconciliation and growth. We will work together to create a plan of therapy that works for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have experienced quite a bit of life myself as well as with my clients. I am a listener, and am not afraid to suggest some creative interventions to help find answers and guidance.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am honored to walk along side those who are grieving or experiencing life transitions. Sometime we just need an open, compassionate listening ear to help us see and understand our position more clearly. Openness to the process of therapy and moving outside of our comfort zone results in growth and discovery.

My treatment methods

Grief Therapy

II have walked along side persons in grief for 34 years. I believe that the one grieving is the best teacher as to what they need. I utilize the companioning model of grief therapy by Alan Wolfelt as well as the Tasks of grief by Worden/Doka and Continuing Bonds modalities.

Compassion Focused

Compassion is being able to understand and relate to another person's thoughts and feelings without taking them on as your own, thus allowing a bit of distance to allow for objectivity to possibly provide clarity and support as needed. It does not mean condoning poor choices but there is no judgment.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This therapy involves allowing your thoughts and emotions without judgment. It involves emotions and thoughts as normal responses to certain situations and then committing to making changes that align with your values.

Faith based therapy

As an ordained clergy person, I recognize the role that faith can play in people's life. I do not impose my beliefs on others, but do listen to see what spirituality and faith means for clients as appropriate .

Trauma Informed Care

Traumatic affects individuals in various ways and to various extents. Knowing the signs for traumatic responses helps to provide care through various methods through the eyes of trauma.
