LMFT, 9 years of experience
Hi there! ¡Hola! I’m Beatriz, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Southern California, offering therapy statewide through Telehealth. I’m a Latina bilingual Spanish speaking therapist with many years of mental health experience. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, perinatal and maternal mental health, life transitions, and trauma. With a specialized certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C), I work closely with new and expecting mothers experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety, and the unique challenges of motherhood. My passion is to create a space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported. My therapeutic style is warm, casual, and down to earth. I take a holistic and individualized approach, recognizing that every client’s journey is unique. Together, we’ll discover what works best for you and move toward healing and growth.
During the first session, I want to learn about you! I will be asking questions about what is bringing you into therapy, what have been your recent struggles with your mental health, questions surrounding your history and what your expectations for treatment are. I want to learn about your history so that I know your story and how to best support you moving forward.
I am passionate about empowering clients and working together to build a safe, trusting, and empathetic environment. My hope is that each client I work with feels understood, validated, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey.
I work with young adults concerning issues of transitions, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I have a specialized certification and training in maternal/perinatal mental health (PMH-C), in which I support young mothers who are struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety. I also have experience working with first-gen Latinx college students who are experiencing depressive and anxious symptoms. Specialties include Depression, Anxiety, Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders, Trauma, and processing Grief and Loss.
CBT is an approach that examines how thoughts, feelings, and behavior influence each other. I incorporate a Cognitive Behavioral lens to help gain a deeper insight and learn strategies to better manage emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that interfere with overall functioning and well-being.
ACT therapy works by focusing on accepting life experiences as they come, without evaluating or trying to change them. In our sessions, we will work together to build skills that include mindfulness, and develop a compassionate relationship with difficult experiences.
As a therapist, I have specialization in Trauma-Focused CBT. The goals of TF-CBT are to help you learn skills to cope with trauma, face and resolve trauma, as well as effectively integrate the traumatic experiences and progress through life in a safe and positive manner.
Strength-based therapy is a type of positive therapy that focuses on your internal strengths and resourcefulness, rather than on your weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings. As a therapist, I believe that it is important to discuss and discover your inner strengths in order to build solutions for the given problems.
