Treatment methods
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
This approach suggests that no matter how good a solution might seem, if it does not work, it is not a solution. As your chosen provider, I maintain the assumption that you have the strength, wisdom, experience, and resilience to find solutions; so instead of focusing on your past experiences, I focus on solutions, your strengths and your preferred expectations. I begin with what you are currently doing and use interventions like specific questioning techniques, scales, empathetic support and compliments to help you recognize the virtues and strengths that had previously gotten you through hard times and are likely to work for you in the future.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
My goal through this approach is to help you build psychological flexibility. I will guide you to allow your emotions rather than suppress them; to separate yourself from your thoughts; to see yourself as being greater than your diagnosis or your thoughts; and to recognize your values. You will be encouraged to stop fighting or avoiding your feelings; but to focus on what matters.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Through CBT, my goal is to help you identify distorted thinking patterns and replace them with healthier thoughts and behaviors. To achieve this goal, I will guide you through activities that include mood tracking, coping skills, behavioral activation, thought record worksheet.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)
As your chosen provider, I will work with you to understand triggers for suicidal thoughts and develop coping strategies and safety plans to reduce future suicide risks. I will work with you to reduce hopeless thinking, strengthen protective factors and create a clear safety plan.
Christian Counseling
If you struggle with spiritual guilt or shame, forgiveness or meaning, and you identify Faith as important to your mental health, I will combine evidence-based psychotherapies with faith-based support, spiritual reflection and biblical values when you desire it. Biblical reflection can help challenge negative beliefs and encourage hope, dignity and purpose. Christian counseling will not replace clinical therapy; but rather complement it.
