PMHNP, 4 years of experience
My dream clients are individuals who have a history of substance use and are seeking meaningful, lasting change. Many of them struggle with underlying trauma and ongoing challenges such as mood dysregulation, depression, and PTSD. These clients are often deeply resilient, even if they don’t yet see it in themselves, and are ready, at their own pace, to explore their patterns, heal from past wounds, and reclaim a sense of self. I feel honored to walk alongside people in this stage of their journey, helping them build insight, strengthen coping strategies, and reconnect with their values and goals.
In your first session, we’ll begin with an intake to gather information about your history, current concerns, and goals for treatment. This helps me understand how best to support you. If a prescription is appropriate and you consent to treatment, we’ll also discuss medication options and next steps. Most importantly, this session is a chance for you to ask questions, share at your own pace, and start building a trusting, collaborative relationship.
Understanding mental health is more important than ever in today’s fast-paced world. At my practice, I provide supportive, accessible resources to help you build emotional well-being and lasting resilience.
With 23 years of nursing experience, half of that in mental health and addiction, I’m uniquely positioned to support individuals navigating complex emotional and psychological challenges. I’ve worked extensively with clients facing substance use, trauma, depression, and PTSD, including sexual assault survivors and patients within the corrections system. Many of my clients hold public-facing roles, including law enforcement and other high-responsibility positions, where stigma and stress can often delay seeking help. My trauma-informed, compassionate, and judgment-free approach creates a safe space for healing, growth, and meaningful change, no matter the client’s background or professional role.
In my practice, I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients identify and build on their existing strengths and resources. Rather than focusing on problems or past difficulties, SFBT emphasizes clients' goals, preferred futures, and what is already working in their lives. I guide clients in exploring solutions, noticing exceptions to problems, and taking small, meaningful steps toward change. This approach supports a collaborative and empowering therapeutic process, often leading to quicker, sustainable progress.
I use Motivational Interviewing to support clients in exploring and resolving ambivalence about change. This client-centered, directive approach helps individuals strengthen their own motivation and commitment by eliciting their personal reasons for change in a non-judgmental and empathetic environment. Through reflective listening, affirmations, and strategic questions, I help clients clarify their values and goals, guiding them toward making informed and self-directed decisions.
