My name is Brandi. I provide a relaxed environment that I was told by current clients help making therapy comfortable. I am very creative in terms of interventions and talking points individualizing how I work with each client. As you have seen, I specialize in multiple diagnoses and symptoms. I have been working in this field for over 20 years and tailor conversations to each individual as each client has different preferred approaches, such as wanting to be challenged as well as a softer approach; I assess each client's preference when we first meet.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first visit includes letting clients know that I am a stranger and do not need to start working on their challenges, but start to build a trusting rapport and asking them what their goals of therapy are. I will simply state that the goals I have for therapy is to help each client feel safe and overall feel more comfortable in their lives.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I provide a comfortable conversation to be had and utilize active listening so the client can share anything, but when someone is uncomfortable starting the conversation, I will act as a guide to help each person feel comfortable working with me. I am very "off the cuff" in terms of my responses or recommendations having decades of experience in the Mental Health World. I have seen many successes using a tailored to each of my clients.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Therapy is voluntary and I will focus on each person's expressed desire as to what they would like to work through. Building a rapport allows each client to become more comfortable with counseling and always ask where they would like to start. My approach is very laid back, judgement fear, and creating a safe space as I am able to treat each person using various approaches allowing for comfort and a more laid back approach taking into consideration as to what the person expresses what type of approach they desire from a therapist. I am able to address the person's overall goals of treatment utilizing the desired approach they would like from a therapist. I am a passionate psychotherapist with strong communication skills addressing each individual's expressed needs. I assess for diagnostic and approaches based on the person's goals. The biopsychosocial model allows for a more comprehensive assessment of strengths and needs, being client-centered and solution focused. I look forward to working with anyone who would like to process challenges as I have many specialties including but not limited to anger management, depression, anxiety, overall mood dysregulation, family conflict, Personality Disorders, or can be someone who wants to process challenges with someone who is not connected to family or friends.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My CBT treatment techniques recognize that negative thought or behavioral challenges are unique to each client I serve. I will use cognitive restructuring (challenging negative thought patterns), journaling questions, relaxation exercises, and overall tailor my therapy to each person, meeting them where they are. I will help with assisting people better regulate their moods so that there will be a positive outcome as they use the various coping mechanisms I will suggest, again individualizing the skills I teach.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This method of treatment will help individuals become comfortable with who they are and become more comfortable with their lives overall. Strength based approaches can help you work through trauma in conjunction with CBT as well as those having difficulty including the LGBQ+ community.

Adlerian

Adlerian therapy is a counseling technique. It is a constructivist approach that emphasizes encouragement and focuses on prevention rather than remediation. The goal is to help patients overcome discouraging beliefs and modify behavior that aligns with constructive perspectives. The therapist evaluates the patient's baseline characteristics, such as family history, birth order, personality traits, and attitudes toward life. The techniques are administered in a step-by-step therapeutic evaluation consistent with psychotherapy principles. Adlerian Therapy is a subtype of psychoeducational therapy that plays a significant role in helping clients work through challenging thoughts and feelings as well as a tool used for those who has experienced trauma. The patient-centered approach considers the individual's unique experiences, strengths, and goals. It is important to note that I will play a crucial role in enhancing care for patients with mental illness and their ability to integrate techniques. Depression and anxiety are distinct but often co-occurring mental health conditions causing persistent sadness, fear, or worry that interfere with daily life. help individuals process traumatic memories, reduce PTSD symptoms, and develop coping skills. A trusting rapport must be built to help you trust me prior to engaging in processing any challenging or anxiety based interventions.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

skills-based strategies designed to manage intense emotions, reduce distress, and improve relationships by balancing acceptance and change. Core techniques include mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. I will use individualized techniques such has building a strong rapport with clients who have endured trauma to help them process this and will provide assignments and talking points to help each client cope with challenges, especially trauma at which time, I will engage in trauma informed care to help each client reach a point when they can start overall feeling better about themselves and build resiliency regarding any difficult experiences and challenging thoughts and feelings.
