(she/her)
I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse Practitioner with nearly two decades of clinical nursing experience in diverse healthcare settings. I firmly believe that prioritizing mental health is vital to achieving happiness, stability, and well-being. Taking the step to seek help is often the most challenging part, and I commend you for your courage. I specialize in managing conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and caregiver burnout, and I am here to support you in your journey toward healing and growth.
Each person has a unique story, and your care should reflect that. When we decide to work together, we'll become partners in your therapeutic journey. Open communication and mutual respect are the foundations of our relationship. I'll be here to listen, challenge, and support you every step of the way.
As a provider, my greatest strengths lie in my commitment to compassionate, holistic care and my dedication to fostering a safe, inclusive environment for each client. With dual board certifications and extensive experience, I bring a solid clinical foundation and a personalized approach to my practice. I excel in helping clients manage complex mental health challenges, blending evidence-based therapies like CBT and DBT with an empathetic, client-centered approach. My focus is empowering clients to achieve wellness goals, emphasizing practical, everyday strategies promoting resilience and long-term healing.
I work with clients facing challenges like depression or trauma, often stemming from relationships or family dynamics. In our early sessions, we'll thoroughly explore these concerns and work together to develop a personalized plan to help you regain control of your life. Many of my clients begin to experience relief from symptoms within the first month, with continued progress in the weeks.
I apply CBT techniques to support clients in managing anxiety, depression, cognitive distortions, and other challenges. I guide clients in assessing and challenging cognitive distortions, like black-and-white thinking or catastrophizing, encouraging them to examine the evidence for and against these thoughts. For clients experiencing depression or low motivation, I introduce behavioral activation by helping them plan small, enjoyable activities, breaking patterns of avoidance, and boosting engagement in daily life.
Supportive therapy is a therapeutic approach focused on providing emotional support, encouragement, and practical assistance to individuals facing mental health challenges. It aims to enhance the client’s coping skills, build resilience, and foster a sense of safety and trust in the therapeutic relationship. The therapist offers empathy, validation, and non-judgmental listening, helping the client navigate difficult emotions and life stressors. While it may not delve deeply into the root causes of issues, supportive therapy emphasizes strengthening the client’s emotional well-being, improving their self-esteem, and providing tools for managing stress and interpersonal relationships.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-oriented, short-term therapeutic approach that focuses on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. It emphasizes the client’s strengths, resources, and past successes to help them identify practical strategies for achieving desired outcomes. The therapist collaborates with the client to define clear, achievable goals and explore how the client has successfully coped with challenges in the past. SFBT is typically brief, with the aim of helping individuals make meaningful changes in a short amount of time, often within a few sessions, by fostering a sense of empowerment and hope.
Culturally sensitive therapy is a therapeutic approach that acknowledges and respects the cultural identities, values, and experiences of clients as central to their mental health and well-being. It involves therapists actively learning about and integrating the client’s cultural background—including race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status—into the therapeutic process.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT) is a therapeutic approach that integrates mindfulness practices—such as meditation, breathing exercises, and body awareness—with psychological strategies to help individuals manage stress, emotions, and mental health challenges.
