I have been practicing as a social worker since 2018. I have had the good fortune to work for several types of agencies during that time and have experience with severe, persistent mental illness as a result of my time working for an inpatient psychiatric unit as well as experience working as a therapist in community mental health. I am currently working with adults aged 18 and up. I have been successfully treating first responders, military personnel, and survivors of domestic violence and child abuse. I am a trauma survivor who is also the mother of two amazing children on the Autism Spectrum. As a result of these two circumstances, I have spent time on the other side of the therapeutic relationship and became a therapist to pay back the time and attention that was given to me while my family was needing healing and support. I have specialized training in EMDR treatment and certification for personality disorder treatment. I utilize a very directive approach to treatment and encourage the client to guide their treatment so it is a joint process where they can feel empowered.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength as a provider is my ability to build rapport with my clients. I prefer to have a more client-directed approach to therapy and encourage them to guide me in what they want to accomplish. I am also a more directive therapist and want to help my clients accomplish their goals as quickly as possible while helping them to achieve lifelong ability to manage any future challenges that they may encounter.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with life, whether that takes the form of challenges with parenting, relationship conflict, all forms of abuse and trauma. I work with adults over the age of 18 of any sexual orientation.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I specialize in working with survivors of trauma. EMDR helps to reduce the physiological and psychological effects that trauma has on the brain and body. I have been utilizing this treatment for 3 years with significant success.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT to help a client to recognize and reframe illogical and negative thinking patterns. I have been successfully utilizing this treatment for the last 8 years.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I utilize this treatment method with clients who are organically prone to depression and anxiety to help them to recognize that this does not have to negatively affect their ability to have a productive and happy life. I help these clients to learn new ways to look at these challenges through acceptance and new coping skills.
