Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Psychologist based in Ohio. I earned my doctorate (Psy.D.) from Wright State University's School of Professional Psychology. I have been practicing for 10+ years primarily working with adolescents and adults. I have experience working in many different settings and with clients from many different backgrounds. My approach to psychotherapy would best be described as integrative and collaborative. I enjoy working with my clients to identify the best version of themselves and the different ways that they can work to getting closer to that person they aspire to be.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, and then focus on the specific challenges you are facing as well as what you would like to accomplish through therapy. This will help me to create a specific plan for us to work through in future sessions. I like to learn things about your support systems, what motivates you, what you are doing when you are feeling your best, and what things seem to keep you from feeling your best.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I provide a collaborative, safe, and flexible space for my clients to feel comfortable expressing themselves and feeling heard while also challenging them to engage in the change process to reach their goals. I have a natural gravitation towards being empathic and nurturing, but will also challenge you and push you towards challenging yourself. Growth and change are not comfortable and sometimes it gets harder before it gets easier.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have experience and enjoy working with a range of different clients and identified mental health needs. Areas I have helped clients with in the past include: life transitions in their careers/education, families, and relationships; depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, low self-esteem, grief, and loss. I can appreciate that some clients come in with a significant amount of insight into their current mental health needs, while others may be feeling completely lost and overwhelmed and need more guidance. Whether you know what you need help with, or are trying to figure out why you are struggling, I am equally as invested in your care.

My treatment methods

Integrative

My education and training from a generalist practitioner model prepared me to approach each client and their therapeutic needs in a personalized manner. An integrated approach to therapy is holistic in that it includes mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing and combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic schools of thought to address the unique needs of each client. Additionally, it assumes a collaborative approach to psychotherapy, where client and clinician work together as equal contributors to the therapeutic change process. I have found that choosing the most effective approach to a clinical issue lies not only in evidence based treatments, but also in what works best with the client's personality, learning style, and level of comfort.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

It is almost impossible for me to provide psychotherapy and not reference, teach, or utilize cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. CBT is based on the premise that the way someone thinks and feels affects the way he or she behaves. I work with my clients to identify patterns of thoughts and feelings and how they impact the way one perceives a situation, and then, how this perception drives actions and behaviors. The goal of treatment is to help clients identify, challenge, and change maladaptive thought patterns so they can work to change their responses to difficult situations.

Psychoeducation

Often, becoming more familiar with the mental health challenges we face will help us to work through them. Psychoeducation is an important component of the therapy process. Understanding the mental health symptoms and issues you face will assist you in making progress towards improving overall mental health.

I have tried therapy many times throughout my life, with no success. I was ready and knew I needed to give it another chance. I also knew I needed something virtual, and who accepted my insurance. That’s when I discovered Grow Therapy. The first therapist I chose was Kimberly Brzezowski, Psy.D; and she has been the best therapist I’ve ever had, hands down! I’m so grateful to have finally found an amazing therapist, who I feel I can trust.
