Hello! I am an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with 22 years experience as an RN and 13 as an NP. I have 2 national certifications; as an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP-BC) and as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I have a deep desire to help my clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I feel a sense of joy when patients tell me how our interactions have changed their lives for the better.
Our first appointment we'll start with brief introductions, I will review any forms/questionnaires, talk awhile and then we'll work together to identify the specific challenges you are facing. This will then help me to formulate an individualized plan of care (POC) that we will use to tackle your challenges in follow up appointments.
Sometimes people just need to be heard - I have been told I am a good listener. Other times, personal experience along with specific education makes me well suited to help guide my patients as they work on their challenges
I love working with anyone struggling with depression or anxiety but Veterans struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and sometimes substance misuse are one group I like to help. These clients have not received the care they deserve either due to lack of availability or the stigma that can be associated with military members and mental health. I cannot forget about my civilians either; young adult to the elderly. Many times the older adult will deny they are experiencing any mental health issues - a stigma from their younger years carries forward. Today, this stigma is improving but still present in all age groups - I hope to decrease the negativity that surrounds mental healthcare so everyone can be their best mentally and physically.
