Christie Barboza

LICSW, 7 years of experience

About me

Hi! I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work from Bridgewater State School of Social Work in 2018, and earned my license to practice independently in 2020. It had always been my goal to work as a psychotherapist, and in early 2021 I left my job as a clinical social worker at McLean Hospital to begin this journey. Since then, I have felt as though I found my calling.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session we will talk about what has brought you into therapy, and what your goals might be moving forward. I understand that therapy can be a little intimidating, especially if you have never done therapy before, and I strive to make clients feel as comfortable as possible. My approach is very down to earth, and I enjoy using humor to make clients feel at ease.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I will choose the approach and methods that work well with whatever it is that my client's are seeking therapy for. Therapy should not be one size fits all, and my methods and skills I teach will vary based on the client's presentation.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have worked in a variety of backgrounds including elementary schools, dementia units at a nursing home, crisis stabilization units for kids and teens, the courthouse, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals. Through this experience I have found the populations that I truly work best with. These populations include those struggling with trauma, those struggling with anxiety, those struggling with OCD, first responders, other mental health and healthcare professionals, parents-whether it be post partum mothers or parents struggling with older children who may be behavioral, and individuals who have family members that have been impacted by substance use.
