I see my role as helping people to identify and cultivate strengths in themselves, and strengths in their relationships; trusting that all of us bring the best we can to the problems of our lives and knowing that when someone is courageous enough to seek assistance, they are seeking to be better. I believe that as individuals we have the choice of becoming more than a trauma, more than a number, more than a victim. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, a Brainspotting Certified Clinician, and trained in EMDR and EFT. I practice individual, family, and group therapy. I have more than 10 years of experience working with trauma survivors and approach my work with clients from a systemic perspective, with focus on respecting everyone, and collaborating with clients in ways that help them access their own unique strengths and abilities with which to face life’s challenges. “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way”. Viktor Frankl
Scheduling your first therapy session requires strength and to admit you may need some help or that you have a condition, symptoms, or challenges to work through and also self-awareness to recognize you need a little help. Your first session will probably involve your therapist (me) asking you a lot of questions about you, how you cope, and your symptoms (it’s basically an interview). We will also discuss your goals and expectations, but most importantly we will get to know each other and build trust and a safe space.
My passion is to work with trauma, and I have continued studying to find better ways to approach my work, I believe we are the result of our history, but that we also have the ability to challenge our history and create a whole new narrative for our lives, and that is the focus of my work: healing from the wounds of our past.
I work with trauma, relational difficulties, I approach my work from a perspective of understanding that our experiences shape who we are, I work with EMDR, Brainspotting, and EFT as main tools.
I obtained my certification on Brainspotting in 2021, I am a firm believer that how we think, we act and we feel is impacted by our experiences, and the ways we process those experiences, and because of that, that we have the capacity for healing.
I first trained on EMDR in 2011, and have practiced through the years. EMDR helps create the connections between your brain's memory networks, enabling your brain to process the traumatic memories.
