Greetings, I am a licensed mental health clinician based in Maryland with over five years of experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. My approach to therapy is holistic and strength-based, focusing on helping clients navigate and resolve a wide range of life’s challenges. By drawing upon each individual’s unique strengths, I work to foster resilience and encourage a continuous journey of healing, growth, and self-discovery. My goal is to create a supportive environment that empowers clients to uncover deeper insights, develop effective coping strategies, and enhance their overall well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial session, we will focus on establishing rapport and assessing whether this is a good therapeutic fit for both of us. This time will also allow us to get acquainted, and we’ll explore the factors that led you to seek therapy at this moment in your life. Together, we will identify and discuss your personal strengths and the specific goals you wish to achieve, all within a safe and supportive space. This foundational session is designed to ensure that you feel comfortable and empowered as we begin your therapeutic journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, my greatest strengths are my authenticity and my deep respect for the shared human experience. I approach each session with the understanding that every individual is on a unique journey, equipped with their own set of coping mechanisms to face life’s challenges. My role is to serve as a guide and a supportive presence, helping clients enhance their self-awareness and strengthen their coping strategies. I am profoundly passionate about this work; it is more than just a profession—it is my calling. This dedication allows me to create an environment that is safe, supportive, and non-judgmental, one where genuine connections can flourish. By fostering a strong therapeutic foundation, I aim to offer a space that encourages growth, healing, and self-discovery, empowering clients to make meaningful and lasting changes in their lives.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Over the past five years, I have consistently utilized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a primary treatment modality in my clinical practice. CBT is an evidence-based approach that effectively addresses a wide range of mental health conditions by engaging both clinician and client in a collaborative exploration of the underlying reasons for specific thoughts, behaviors, and emotional responses. The strength of CBT lies in its focus on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It emphasizes identifying and restructuring negative or maladaptive thought patterns, which in turn positively influences behavior and emotional well-being. By guiding clients to recognize and challenge distorted thoughts, CBT empowers them to adopt healthier cognitive patterns. As clients learn to modify their thinking, they often experience improvements in their physical responses and overall behavior, leading to a significantly enhanced quality of life.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a therapeutic approach that centers on understanding human suffering as an essential part of personal growth and purpose. Rather than attempting to eliminate pain, ACT encourages individuals to acknowledge their suffering, clarify their values, and commit to actions that align with these values, ultimately helping them lead a meaningful life. In my practice, I have used ACT to help clients become more mindful of the patterns of suffering they experience, recognizing these as part of the human condition. By fostering this awareness, clients are empowered to respond differently to pain rather than allowing it to control their thoughts and actions. Through ACT’s emphasis on mindfulness, acceptance strategies, and cognitive defusion, clients learn to observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment, creating a sense of cognitive and emotional balance. This approach allows them to interrupt negative thought cycles and choose responses that promote healing and resilience, significantly improving their quality of life even in the face of pain.

Eclectic

In my practice, I use an eclectic approach to therapy, blending various therapeutic modalities to address each client’s unique needs. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients reframe negative thought patterns, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for values-based guidance, and mindfulness techniques for emotional regulation. This approach allows me to bring flexibility and creativity to my treatment planning, ensuring that each client’s needs are met in a holistic, individualized way. By drawing from a range of tools, I aim to provide comprehensive support that promotes growth and healing tailored to each person’s journey.
