Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based out of Bloomington, IN. I received my masters from Indiana University in 2021 and have been working in the field the past 4 years. I am a neurodivergent therapist who enjoys working with all types of people to help achieve their goals, build self-esteem, and have a safe place to land.
In our first session, we will get to know each other, your goals, and what you hope to get out of treatment. We will make sure we are a good fit to get you where you want to be.
I speak to clients like they are real people, and am pretty good at forming relationships. As a person living with ADHD and a mental health history of my own, I am able to understand clients perspectives.
I love working with all ages, specifically adults (18+) and clients later in life (65+), though I do like to have a few kiddos/teens on my schedule. I enjoy working with neurodivergent folks, late diagnosed ADHD/Autism, folks struggling with substance misuse, and folks going through life transitions. I enjoy providing a calm space for clients to land who may not have that space otherwise.
I use bits of CBT to better help clients understand the relationship between their thoughts and behaviors.
DBT provides essential skills to folks dealing with relationship issues, interpersonal issues, difficulty communicating feelings, and those who want to learn how to be more mindful and present. DBT can be useful for anyone.
I practice Trauma Informed Care, meaning I understand your background, the state of the world, and other systemic factors impact your life and our care together. I seek to create a welcoming environment that allows for healing and avoids re-traumatizing. Trauma Informed Care also means I collaborate with my clients, ensuring they feel like they have a voice in their own treatment. Trauma Informed Care means understanding the stigma that comes with having mental health struggles. For example: I am cognizant of a trauma history that often comes with living with undiagnosed Autism or ADHD, and will consider that in our work together.
I enjoy working with clients to identify their strengths, and incorporating that into our work together. For example: empowering clients to be themselves and identifying their own strengths.
MI is a common therapeutic approach used to assist clients in motivating them to change. Another empowerment approach, MI encourages clients to work towards well-being and achieve their goals.
