(she/her)
Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois. I received my Masters of Social Work from the Jane Adams School of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I have been practicing since 2007. My background consists of working with individuals, families, groups, and couples. I enjoy motivating and empowering clients, which cultivates behavioral change, and increases management of life's stressors.
In our first session together there will be brief introductions. I will then begin to gather information about your current challenges and/or struggles. This information will help me to create a plan tailored for our work in future sessions.
Often times clients feel embarrassed, isolated, and burdened with life's stressors. In my practice, I've been successful creating a safe space for clients to share their struggles by providing compassion, empathy, active listening, and collaborating to create strategies for symptom management that lead to measurable progress.
Stress, anger, sadness, feelings of inadequacy, can all be very overwhelming. I've been successful working with clients by normalizing your experiences, identifying strengths/challenges, and partnering with you to begin combating these struggles.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been a major treatment modality in my practice. CBT has helped many of my clients to identify cognitive distortions and challenge reoccurring thoughts by creating new more helpful behaviors. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
Strength-Based
Strength based therapy encourages collaboration with clients, identifying strengths, and focuses on solutions. This method highlights client's strengths and resilience and has helped my clients to minimize avoidance, and build confidence.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT is useful to assist clients in accepting difficult thoughts and emotions, then move forward and realign your thoughts with what matters. Creating distance gives those difficult thoughts less control over your emotions.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT works well with clients who've experienced intense emotions, struggle with unstable relationships, and impulsivity. Clients develop mindfulness techniques, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and effective interpersonal skills.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
This method is very useful for short term therapy clients in need of decision making support. Natural survival skills, resilience, and strengths are hi lighted and used to develop clear goals for behavioral change.

Lorez is so amazing! When I read her profile I had a feeling that she was going to be a great fit for me and the first session confirmed just that. She was warm and welcoming she listened with intention and never interrupted. She was very straight forward with the goals of our sessions, and I can tell she's genuine and passionate about helping her clients. Hands down the best therapist I ever had!!!!

I truly enjoyed this session and I am excited about my progress. She explained the process and I feel the questions she asked allowed her to better understand me.
