Hello! I am Dr. Nikkita Jackson, an experienced clinician licensed in Ohio with years of dedicated clinical experience, I am eager to build a meaningful and supportive relationship with new clients to guide them on their path to well-being. As a young child, I always desired to help others which sparked my desire to become a social worker/clinician. I obtained my bachelors, masters, and doctorate in social work and I am an independently licensed social worker in the state of Ohio. My approach is to meet clients where they are, and to empower them to make the necessary changes needed to live a wholesome life. My goal is to empower you and to support you on your journey and to remind you that you can make it against the odds. Those odds are any obstacles or situations that may hinder your progress. In my practice, I embrace a comprehensive approach that customizes methods to fit the unique needs of my clients. To name a few, I use methods such as: trauma informed care, reality therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, strengths based therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and family conflict resolution. I understand that taking this step to seek therapy and to ask for help can bring about mixed emotions. I am here to support you on this path and to take those steps with you as you transition to your best self. Beyond sessions, I enjoy singing, preparing vegan meals, spending time with my love ones, and reading.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is crucial as it sets the foundation for the therapeutic relationship and establishes the framework for future sessions. In this session you can expect to start building the therapeutic relationship, discuss concerns and reasons for seeking therapy, and discuss client's expected goals. We will review your expectations, initial paperwork, and I will address any questions or concerns that you may have.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With my 15 years of experience, my greatest strengths as a provider is meeting the client where they are, providing reflective/active listening, and helping clients to navigate through life struggles.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a well-established, evidence-based therapy that addresses negative thought patterns and behaviors through structured techniques and strategies. Its success across various mental health conditions is supported by a robust body of research, and it remains a first-line treatment for many psychological issues. Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. I use this method to assist my clients to decrease depression, anxiety, and negative self-talk to increase positive outcomes.

Reality Therapy

Reality therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that focuses on helping individuals take control of their lives and make more effective choices. It is based on the principles of Choice Theory and is designed to assist people in addressing their current issues and achieving their personal goals. I use this method to help my clients to understand and improve personal choices, address present issues, build a more fulfilling life, improve relationships, accept responsibility, and a sense of empowerment.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a brief, goal-oriented therapeutic approach that emphasizes finding solutions to current problems rather than focusing on the problems themselves or exploring their origins. I use this method to help my clients to identify and achieve goals, highlight and utilize their strengths, foster positive change, enhance self-efficacy, and promote a future-oriented perspective.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) is an approach to providing support and services that acknowledges the widespread impact of trauma and emphasizes a compassionate and understanding response to the needs of those affected. I use this method to help my clients to understand and address the impact of trauma, create a safe and supportive environment, empower clients and build resilience, promote healing and recovery, avoid re-traumatization, foster a collaborative relationship, and support self-care and self-efficacy.
