I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas. I have experience in a wide array of mental health fields, including working with individuals who have experienced trauma, grief & loss, and depression. I am passionate about working with culturally diverse populations, including those in the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ community. Furthermore, I am extremely passionate about social justice and advocacy work. I am ready to get to know you and help guide you towards self-set goals and inner peace!
In our first session together, we'll start with introductions and I can explain what a session typically looks like. Then we will dive into the specific challenges you're facing. I usually like to gather some background information and then work with you to understand your goals for therapy.
Having worked with so many diverse populations in my career whether it be different ages, races, sexual identity, socioeconomic statuses, etc. I have a deep passion for understanding my clients as a whole and helping them to understand their own emotions and goals for their future.
I have used somatic therapy in a variety of settings and have been familiar with this technique for over 7 years. I use this approach to help clients understand how the mind and body are connected. Through various exercises, clients can learn to reduce the physical symptoms of stress and learn to regulate their emotions via regulating things like their heart rate, blood pressure, and nervous system.
I worked in a grief therapy center for 1 year and have included grief therapy in my practice ever since. I help clients process their grief by creating a safe place to talk about loss and the complicated emotions that come with it. Grief therapy is most effective when clients are able to pinball between feeling their emotions connected to loss and looking towards a new normal. Through exercises and discussion, I help clients find this balance.
I have used the Strength-Based approach for over 6 years in my practice and often find it effective in building confidence, independence, and learning to be kinder to yourself. This approach helps clients to understand their strengths and use them to help achieve their goals and build a life that they imagine.
For the past 7 years, I have used Trauma Informed Care in every field of social work that I have experience in. Trauma informed care is crucial to prevent further trauma for clients and to help them understand how trauma has impacted them. I use this approach to make sure clients know that they are safe speaking to me, to help them process traumatic events, and to provide them with exercises to help reduce symptoms of experienced trauma.
I have implemented Culturally Sensitive Therapy into every profession I have worked in for the past 7 years and am incredibly passionate about providing a safe space for all clients. Client's identities often contain a multitude of intersections that impact them in many ways. I use this approach to help clients understand their identities and to create a space for them to talk about how they experience the world.
