Gracie Rae Hodges

LPC3 years of experience

My approach is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and highly experiential. While insight is important, I believe lasting healing happens when we move beyond simply talking about your experiences and begin processing them. Using evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, IFS, somatic therapy, and EFT, I help clients work through unresolved emotions and traumatic experiences that continue to fuel anxiety, depression, shame, and unhealthy patterns. My goal is to help you experience meaningful breakthroughs, release the burdens you've been carrying, and create lasting change—not just in how you think, but in how you feel, relate, and live. Therapy with me is active, engaging, humorous, and focused on helping you make real progress both inside and outside the therapy room. I work with adults navigating trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, substance use and addiction, relationship challenges, life transitions, self-esteem, stress, and emotional regulation. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, I tailor therapy to your unique goals and help you build the tools needed for lasting healing.

First session

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other in a safe, judgment-free space. We'll explore what brings you to therapy, discuss your goals, and begin understanding the patterns that may be contributing to your current challenges. My approach is collaborative and experiential, but we'll always move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Building trust and creating a strong foundation comes first, so there's never any pressure to share more than you're ready to.

Strengths

My approach is shaped by my experience as both a therapist and a former therapy client. I understand how vulnerable the process can feel, so I strive to create a warm, collaborative space where you feel safe, understood, and never reduced to a diagnosis. Using experiential, evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic therapy, I help clients process difficult experiences at a pace that feels supportive—not overwhelming. My goal is to help you create meaningful, lasting change while building a life that feels authentic and aligned with your values.

Ideal clients

Someone who feels stuck and ready for change—whether they look put-together or everything feels like it’s falling apart. They may have tried talk therapy without lasting results. They’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, people-pleasing, relationship issues, or disconnection from themselves. Curious and growth-oriented, they want more than insight: practical, evidence-based tools that create real change in a safe, collaborative way.

Treatment methods

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

One of my favorite tools to use is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), though I have to admit—I was skeptical at first. As both a therapist and someone who has sat in the client's chair, it took me a while to fully embrace it. But once I experienced it for myself, I was amazed by how quickly and gently it helped process emotions that had felt stuck for years. Now it's one of my favorite approaches because I've found it to be one of the fastest, least overwhelming ways to process difficult emotions and trauma. It doesn't require you to relive every painful detail, and many clients are surprised by how simple yet effective it can be. I genuinely look forward to sharing it with clients who are open to trying something different.

EMDR

EMDR is one of the most well-researched and effective treatments available for processing trauma and other distressing life experiences. One of the things I love about EMDR is that it can be done just as effectively in a virtual setting. In fact, I completed my EMDR training virtually and have extensive experience providing EMDR through telehealth. This means you can engage in meaningful trauma work from the comfort, privacy, and safety of your own home. My goal is to help you process experiences that may be keeping you stuck so you can experience lasting change—not just symptom relief, but genuine healing and freedom to move forward.

Attachment-based

At some point in our work together, there's a good chance we'll explore your attachment style. I often use attachment style assessments because they can tell such a powerful story about how we relate to others, how we learned to protect ourselves, what our deepest fears may be, and what we need to feel safe and connected. For many clients, this becomes one of the most eye-opening parts of therapy. It often helps make sense of relationship patterns that once felt confusing, while offering a compassionate framework for understanding yourself and creating healthier, more secure connections.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) offers practical, evidence-based skills that can make a real difference in everyday life. Together, we'll learn strategies to help you regulate intense emotions, stay grounded during stressful moments, navigate relationships more effectively, and respond rather than react. These skills can be especially helpful if you experience emotional ups and downs, feel easily overwhelmed, or find yourself getting stuck in unhelpful patterns. My goal is to help you build a toolbox of skills that leaves you feeling more balanced, resilient, and in control of your emotions.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS), often called "parts work," is one of my favorite approaches for helping clients understand themselves with greater compassion. Rather than seeing anxiety, self-criticism, people-pleasing, or other patterns as flaws, IFS helps us recognize them as protective parts that developed for a reason. Together, we'll explore these parts with curiosity instead of judgment, uncover the deeper needs beneath them, and strengthen your ability to respond from your calm, grounded, authentic self. Many clients find this approach incredibly validating and empowering because it helps them make sense of the internal conflicts they've struggled with for years.
