Megan Young
Hello, I'm Megan Young and I have over 10 years of experience supporting children and families through a variety of challenges and life transitions. My approach is strengths-based, compassionate, and focused on creating a safe, supportive space where individuals feel heard and understood. I believe in building on the strengths, relationships, and skills that are already present to help you grow, connect, and thrive.
First session
Our first meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, talk about what brings you to therapy, and begin identifying what you hope to gain from our work together. We’ll spend time discussing your experiences, current challenges, strengths, and the areas of life where you’d like support. I’ll answer any questions you have about the therapy process and work with you to develop goals that feel meaningful and achievable. Most importantly, there is no pressure to have everything figured out. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive space where you can be yourself.
Strengths
What sets my approach apart is the depth of experience and compassion I bring to working with individuals during some of life’s most challenging moments. I understand that reaching out for support often takes courage, and I recognize the strength it takes to navigate difficult periods of life. I work to create a safe and supportive space to feel understood and discover new ways forward. I have had the privilege of walking alongside many families through times of uncertainty, change, and hardship, and I bring that experience with me to each therapeutic relationship.
Ideal clients
My clients are often individuals who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, or the challenges that come with transitioning into adulthood. They may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about what comes next and are looking for support as they navigate this. I work with people who are ready to better understand themselves, build confidence, and develop practical tools for managing life’s challenges. Whether they are facing a difficult transition, struggling with their mental health, or simply feeling unsure of their next steps, I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental space where they can feel heard, build on their strengths, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Throughout our lives, we develop patterns of thinking and behaving based on our experiences. Sometimes these patterns are helpful, while other times they can leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from the life we want to create. In session, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you explore the connection between your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and experiences. Together, we will identify patterns that may no longer be serving you and develop practical strategies to create meaningful change. Sometimes change begins with a small step—a new perspective, a different response, or the willingness to approach something you have been avoiding.
Motivational Interviewing
Change can be difficult, especially when part of you wants something different while another part feels unsure. Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative approach that helps you explore your own reasons for change without judgment or pressure. Rather than telling you what you should do, I will work alongside you to understand what matters most to you, explore what may be getting in the way, and identify the strengths and resources you already have. We will focus on your values, goals, and vision for the future while recognizing that meaningful change happens at your own pace.
