My name is Randy. I’m so glad you took this first step of reaching out for support! Whether you want to navigate difficulties in your life, repair relationships, or build a strong foundation for your mental and emotional wellness - I am here to help! We’ll work together to move past obstacles so you can take steps to achieve your goals. I want the therapeutic process to feel helpful and worthwhile. I work with sincerity, compassion and non-judgement, and will provide a nurturing environment where you can talk candidly about your concerns. I look forward to exploring this journey with you! I am a Carolina native and have been a licensed therapist/counselor for 19 years. I have not only seen healing and wholeness take place through therapy, but I have experienced that in my own life. Thanks for the sacred honor to assist you.
Sanctuary. For many people, that is a place where people gather to worship. Yet, sanctuary also is a word that can describe a place of safety. When we meet together, I want to create a sanctuary place where each client feels safe and secure to be themselves and lay on the table their struggles and all they want to be. While I as the therapist might guide the process, we will go forward at the pace of the client. Once we get to know each other, we will set goals and steps to reach those goals. I will bring my best to each and every session, and I am counting on you as the client to do the same! Sometimes between sessions, I will give homework that might include worksheets or journalling.
Below are some words that former clients use to describe me: "great wisdom and support" "good calming presence" "pleasure to talk with" "very insightful" "wholeheartedly recommend Randy" "a great listener and offers workable ideas to help me with my issues. Very friendly and personable. His "down home" personality makes him approachable." "Rev Wall is an amazing therapist that helped me build a sleep routine to help with sleeplessness."
Someone once said that "grief means that you loved somebody." Everyone knows grief or loss sometime. For some people, that grief can have a crippling effect on their lives. When grief and loss cripples your life, it needs to be dealt with and addressed. I have worked with hundreds of people through the years to look and deal with grief and loss. In kindness to the client and in respect to the deceased, we will talk about the person that has been lost and ponder why this loss is adversely affecting your life. There will be times we may laugh and smile, and other times when we may cry together. In the end, I hope that will lead each client to feeling more gratitude for the person no longer with us and adjusting to the loss.
I am not only a licensed clinical mental health counselor, but also an ordained Christian pastor. I have worked with people in the local church and community to explore important issues like forgiveness, grace, love, and peace that are not only at the heart of faith and spirituality, but also at the heart of life. My hope is that as we explore these matters together that each client will find a deeper sense of joy and serenity.
I have used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy throughout my years of practice. Our thoughts and feelings greatly influence our lives. I have worked with clients to help them see how their thoughts and feelings can cause them stress and anxiety and how changing those thoughts and feelings can significantly increase the joy and vitality of their life.
Relationships can be challenging especially a long term relationship like marriage. That is certainly evident in the fact that around 50% of marriages end in divorce. I using an electic approach with couples as we explore issues like communication, family of origin, infidelity, children, and forgiveness in hopes that couples cannot only rekindle their relationship but build a stronger relationship.
