Clara Pellizzari

LCSW40 years of experience

My name is Clara Pellizzari. I am an LCSW licensed out of California. I have many years of experience in the social work field. Some of the areas are a Behavioral Care Crises Unit, Mental Health Hospital, Child Protective Services, Level 4 Hospital Emergency Room, Prison, and the Veteran's Hospital. I was a Conservator for the Public Guardian, and I also worked in Home Health primarily with the elderly. I specialize in Anxiety, Depression and Grief.

First session

The first session is simply a chance for us to get to know one another. It is completely normal to feel nervous or unsure about what to expect, and there is no pressure to share everything right away. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and you can share as much or as little as you would like. During our time together, we will discuss what brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain from it, and any questions or concerns you may have. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and understood.

Strengths

My strengths include trust-building and being open-minded. I ask questions to get to the root of the problem. I am empathetic to your problems and needs. And., I am flexible and use humor and self-awareness in working with my clients. I believe my strengths come from all of the various positions I have held in the Social Work field. As a Mental Health Crises worker, I learned how to deal with all types of symptoms and behaviors that occur when someone is in crisis.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My approach to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is collaborative, practical, and goal-oriented. I work with clients to identify the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, helping them recognize patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress or unhealthy coping strategies. Through CBT, I assist clients in challenging negative or distorted thinking, developing healthier perspectives, and implementing behavioral changes that support their treatment goals. In my clinical experience, I have utilized CBT with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma-related symptoms, stress management difficulties, and adjustment issues. I incorporate psychoeducation, cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, problem-solving skills, and coping strategies tailored to each client's unique needs. My goal is to empower clients with practical tools they can use both during and outside of sessions to improve emotional well-being and enhance overall functioning.

Eclectic

I take an eclectic approach to therapy, integrating techniques from several evidence-based modalities to create individualized treatment plans. By tailoring therapy to each client's unique needs, I help clients develop practical skills, increase self-awareness, and achieve meaningful, lasting change.
