(she/her)
I’m Melissa Perlin, a dedicated and compassionate therapist committed to supporting individuals on their journey toward healing and personal growth. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace. My approach is collaborative and client-centered, meaning I work alongside you to better understand your unique story and goals. I draw from evidence-based practices to help you build insight, develop coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change. I have experience supporting individuals with a range of concerns, including anxiety, stress, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth, and I feel honored to be part of that process with my clients.
Starting therapy can feel both exciting and a little nerve-wracking—and that’s completely normal. The first session is all about getting to know you and helping you feel comfortable. During this session, we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, any current challenges you’re facing, and what you hope to get out of the process. You can share as much or as little as you feel ready to—there’s no pressure to open up all at once. We’ll also review important information such as confidentiality, your rights as a client, and how sessions typically work. This is a great time to ask any questions you may have about therapy. The first session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of whether I’m a good fit for you. A strong, trusting connection is an important part of the therapeutic process. By the end of the session, we may begin to identify initial goals and next steps, but most importantly, the focus is on creating a safe and supportive space for you.
What stands out about my approach is the emphasis on creating a genuine, trusting connection. I believe therapy works best when you feel truly seen, heard, and understood. My style is collaborative and tailored to your unique needs, combining evidence-based techniques with compassion to support meaningful, lasting change.
I am best positioned to support individuals who are seeking meaningful change, greater self-understanding, and emotional balance. Many of my clients come in feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected—whether due to anxiety, depression, bi-polar, life transitions, relationship challenges, or burnout. They often have insight into their struggles but want help turning that awareness into real, lasting change. I work well with clients who are open to reflection and curious about their patterns, even if they feel uncertain about where to start. My approach is especially helpful for those who want a collaborative, supportive space to explore their thoughts and emotions while also developing practical tools to navigate daily life more effectively. Clients who tend to benefit most are motivated to grow, even if change feels uncomfortable, and are looking for a therapist who balances empathy with gentle guidance. Together, we focus on building resilience, improving relationships, and creating a stronger sense of clarity, confidence, and purpose.
