Melea Peloquin

LCSW (she/her)4 years of experience

I’m a therapist who truly cares about helping people feel seen, supported, and understood. I keep up with the latest therapy tools and techniques, but I also bring my own warm, real, and fun energy into every session. My goal is to make therapy feel comfortable — like a conversation that helps you grow, heal, and move toward the life you want. We’ll laugh sometimes, dig deep when we need to, and work together to get you where you want to be.

First session

Taking that journey together begins with our first meeting, where my goal is to create an open and down-to-earth connection. There's no pressure on you to have a perfect narrative, especially when you're just starting therapy. I want you to feel completely comfortable, knowing that you are the expert of your own story, and you will set the pace. Our work will be built on the foundation of what you choose to share with me. In every session, including our very first, you are in the driver's seat. I will review a potential treatment plan with you verbally, and together, we can clarify where you would like to begin. I'm not here to just address a problem, but to know you as a whole person. I am interested in who supports you, what truly matters to you, and where you hope to be at the end of this journey. My role is to walk alongside you, offering a safe, non-judgmental space for your healing to unfold.

Strengths

Healing takes courage, and I’m honored to walk beside you as you take that step. My own background—growing up in a non-traditional, often misunderstood environment—gives me a deep sense of empathy and compassion. I’m especially passionate about helping people recover from experiences that left them feeling silenced, stuck, or disconnected, whether those came from family, community, belief systems, or early life challenges. What sets me apart is the way I blend lived experience with genuine care. I don’t just offer techniques—I create a space where you feel truly seen, safe, and supported. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and rooted in real connection. I bring creativity, humor, and a deep respect for your story into every session. As someone who values family, community, and nature, I help clients build the same grounded resilience I find through hiking, gardening, and making art. Together, we’ll work toward a life that feels whole, meaningful, and truly yours.

Ideal clients

It takes great strength to seek healing from the past, and I am honored to walk alongside you on that journey. Having grown up in a non-mainstream, marginalized environment, I bring a depth of personal understanding and compassion to my practice. My passion is to help individuals overcome the shadows of coercive control, religious trauma, and childhood wounds, because I know firsthand what it means to become the victor of your own story. I believe that deep and lasting healing happens in an environment of safety and trust, where you are truly seen and heard. As a family-oriented person who enjoys serving my small-town community, I understand the importance of connection and belonging. In our work together, we can cultivate the same grounded resilience that I find in my own life through hiking, gardening, and making art. I am committed to helping you discover a healthy, fulfilling life and use your own unique talents to create a beautiful new chapter.

Treatment methods

Polyvagal Therapy

Polyvagal therapy is an approach I use because it provides supportive healing by reconnecting you to a sense of safety and inner calm. Rooted in neuroscience, it nurtures the nervous system through compassionate techniques that ease anxiety, soothe trauma, and lift the weight of depression. It’s a heart-centered approach that invites regulation, resilience, and deeper connection—both within and with others.

EMDR

In addition, I use the eye movement intervention Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). It is a gentle yet transformative approach that helps process painful memories and emotional wounds without having to relive them. Through guided eye movements and focused attention, it supports the brain’s natural healing ability—bringing relief from trauma, easing anxiety, and lifting the fog of depression. ART creates space for clarity, resilience, and emotional freedom, allowing you to move forward with greater ease and confidence.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is a kind and practical way to help people handle strong emotions, feel more in control, and improve relationships. It teaches simple skills like staying calm, thinking clearly, and speaking up for yourself—all in a supportive, step-by-step way. DBT helps people feel more balanced and better able to cope with life’s ups and downs.
