Raechel Atchison

LMFT (she/her)3 years of experience

Hi, I'm Raechel! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and I believe therapy works best when it feels like a real conversation between two humans. I work with teens, adults, and parents who are ready to stop just getting through life and start creating meaningful change. Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationships, parenting, trauma, or the general chaos of life, we'll work together to better understand what's keeping you stuck and build a life that feels more like you. I'll bring curiosity, honesty, and a little humor to the process, because healing doesn't have to be so serious all the time. Let's learn how to human together.

First session

Our first session is all about getting to know each other. No pressure, no pop quiz, and definitely no expectation that you have your life story perfectly organized. We'll talk about what's bringing you to therapy, what you're hoping will be different, and answer any questions you have. First sessions can feel a little awkward (that's just part of being human), so we'll embrace it, laugh if we need to, and take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Strengths

I'm not here to be the expert on your life, you're the expert. My role is to help you make sense of the patterns, emotions, and parts of yourself that can feel confusing or overwhelming. I bring authenticity, curiosity, and humor into the room, creating a space where healing feels less intimidating and more like two people working through life's messiness together.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who knows they want something to change but isn't quite sure how to get there. They may feel overwhelmed, stuck in the same patterns, juggling relationships, parenting, work, or the general chaos of life. They're open to being curious about themselves, willing to do the work, and ready to create meaningful, lasting change, even if they don't have it all figured out yet.

Treatment methods

Attachment-based

I believe our relationships shape the way we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. Attachment-based therapy helps us explore how early experiences and important relationships may still be influencing how you communicate, handle conflict, set boundaries, trust others, or respond to stress today. Together, we'll better understand those patterns, not to place blame, but to create more secure relationships, healthier ways of coping, and a stronger connection with yourself.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

As a Level 1-trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist through the IFS Institute, I help clients understand the different "parts" of themselves that influence thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Instead of judging or trying to get rid of these parts, we approach them with curiosity and compassion to better understand their purpose. This often leads to greater self-awareness, emotional balance, and lasting change.

EMDR

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based approach that helps the brain process difficult or overwhelming experiences that may still be affecting you today. Sometimes our brains get "stuck," causing past experiences to continue showing up as anxiety, strong emotions, negative beliefs, or patterns that no longer serve us. EMDR helps your brain process these experiences so they feel less overwhelming, allowing you to move forward with greater confidence, emotional freedom, and resilience.
