I am Carrie, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from the state of Texas. I received my Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling in 2017 from Capella University. I have been practicing since 2018 where I have developed a passion and love for working with clients who have experienced different types of major traumas within their life. I also enjoy working with clients who are making life transitions: like women who have become new moms, or college age students who are transitioning from college to work life. The goal is to provide a space for clients to feel safe enough to move through the different transitions with grace and confidence.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, look at your history, and then dive into the specific and current challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions so that we can accomplish your goals. We will build a few specific goals to use as the road map. This road map will help us to prioritize where you would like to begin, and what you envision for yourself as a well-balanced and healthy individual.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Having worked with a variety of clients over the last 6 years, I've developed a process for helping you to identify the root cause of your challenges, decrease stress, increase hope, and provide practical ways for you to begin to take ownership of your own healing and growth. There is nothing greater as a provider than to hear "I don't need you anymore because you have provided me with the tools I need to manage my anxiety/stress/anger/depression".!

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

The clients that I am best positioned to serve have a desire for change. They are tired of spinning the same wheel over and over again, and they are motivated to try something new/different. I enjoy working from a strengths-based and mindfulness perspective where I can engage a client through different types of modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and even EMDR. I would love to be able to include expressive arts modalities into the therapy sessions as well because that includes a layer of mindfulness. I enjoy working from a creative perspective where I can hear the client, and challenge them gently to see beyond their circumstances and into possibilities. I believe strongly in meeting each client where they are at, listening to their needs, and then pulling out their strengths so that they can see the possibilities in front of them.
