I am Carrie, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from the state of Texas. I received my Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling in 2017 from Capella University. I have been practicing since 2018 where I have developed a passion and love for working with clients who have experienced different types of major traumas within their life. I also enjoy working with clients who are making life transitions: like women who have become new moms, or college age students who are transitioning from college to work life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, look at your history, and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions so that we can accomplish your goals. This is the road map, and we will begin to prioritize where you would like to begin, and what you envision for yourself as a well-balanced and healthy individual.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a variety of clients over the last 6 years, I've developed a process for helping you to identify the root cause of your challenges, decrease stress, increase hope, and provide practical ways for you to begin to take ownership of your own healing and growth. There is nothing greater as a provider than to hear "I don't need you anymore because you have provided me with the tools I need to manage my anxiety/stress/anger/depression".!

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Over the last 6 years, I have worked with clients of different ages by utilizing different types of mindfulness-based strategies (including art, yoga, music, dance, and meditation) to help clients find and maintain a healthy-balanced lifestyle to decrease symptoms of depression or anxiety.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Trained in CBT over the last 6 years, and have used this method with countless clients to develop and increase their awareness and connection to their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors through multiple techniques that are creative and standard

EMDR

I have been trained in EMDR since 2019, and have been utilizing this through a body-based approach both online and in person to help clients with severe PTSD decrease the symptoms and work through the trauma (or traumas). I have worked with victims of crime/abuse/and other major traumatic events.

Trauma Informed Care

I have worked with many different clients working through major traumatic events in their life. I use a combination of expressive arts, creative therapies, CPT, and EMDR to find what works best with the client, and will walk with the client through their trauma to help them heal the wound.
