Hi! I am Caroline and I am a licensed clinical social worker in Indiana. Most of my experience is working with young adults, but I have worked with children, teens, families, and older adults. I enjoy building a trusting relationship with my clients so they can feel safe to be their full, authentic self. Who I am in the therapy session is quite similar to who I am in other areas of my life. I have seen tremendous growth and progress in the clients I have worked with. Most often they just needed someone to be consistent, supportive, and direct. I focus on building a client's self-compassion and readiness for incremental, but meaningful change. On a personal note I am a devoted cat mom and I watch a lot of anime.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session I really try to engage my client and help them feel safe to open up. I like to get a good picture of who you are as a person as well as the areas that you would like to focus on. First session tends to be a lot of questions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is my genuine and authentic presence. You will not feel like you are in a session with a therapist robot. I want my clients to feel safe and able to talk about things they normally couldn't with others in their life.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am best positioned to help clients who are ready to examine themselves and work towards meaningful change. Most of my clients report liking my humor and "real person" feel. I especially enjoy addressing the unique needs of LGBTQIA+ and Autistic/ADHD clients.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I am person centered and humanistic in the way I conceptualize and approach clients and the world, but tend to be more direct in style. I believe in the power of being our genuine selves and it is important to me that my clients see that in session with me. I draw on many approaches in my interventions with clients and prefer to base that on the particular client and need at that time. I also seek out and depend on client feedback to guide sessions. Sometimes we are digging into unhelpful core beliefs, identifying patterns of behavior, exploring possible changes, practicing mindfulness or regulating strategies, processesing traumas and hurts, celebrating accomplishments, calling you out when you need it, and the list goes on and on

Compassion Focused

In all my work with clients I focus on helping clients build self-compassion and sense of empowerment.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

With my background in social work, I approach client needs through a systems and person in environment approach. I believe our social environments throughout our lives play a key role in our development as individuals as well as the development of issues we want to address. I see my client as the expert of their culture and believe this is vital to the therapeutic relationship.

Trauma Informed Care

Even when a client doesn't initially identify trauma as an area of concern, through the course of our work together trauma is often uncovered. I believe the client must choose and be ready to engage in trauma work. This usually means addressing more urgent needs and developing effective coping tools first.
