Hello! My name is Amanda and I have worked in the mental health field since 2009, and as a clinician since 2012. I started out working with children on the spectrum and realized that the totality of a person is much more than their behavior. After this, I went to school to become a mental health counselor and have dedicated my professional career to helping others seek the treatment they need, support my community, and create a positive impact on more than just myself. I have serviced families and children for most of my professional career, and am looking to help you improve your life! While families have historically been my speciality, I am comfortable working with all populations and looking to expand my clients serviced. I want to help others improve themselves by facilitating and supporting their actionable and long lasting change.
In our first session you can expect some introductions to happen, and a discussion on what you are looking to achieve. I would like to get to know why you would like to seek clinical support. This would look like maybe defining your objectives or as simple as just understanding what challenges you are facing. This discussion will help us tailor our sessions in the future to make sure we are on the same page to achieving your goals.
Having worked with a variety of clients, I feel that my perspective on improvement is tailored to a real-world experience. Life is messy, things happen, and events are unpredictable. Looking at life through a different lens allows me to better help you help yourself.
I love working with young adults and professionals looking to make a change in their life. I also greatly enjoy behavior management and family dynamics. Ideally, I am best positioned to service clients who have the motivation and desire to improve, yet may not have the tools or foundation to make their goals and aspirations a reality. I always like to say that my role is to help you shorten the path between the "you" that you are now, with the "you" that you see in your future.
I use a varied style approach to best meet my clients needs. I have a background in family dynamics and disruptive behaviors, but find that an eclectic style meets the needs of my clients best. I have experience in the following treatment styles: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gottman Couples Therapy, Parent-Child Interative Therapy (PCIT), Infant Mental Health, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
