(she/her)
Hi, I’m Susannah Beier, PMHNP, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner offering virtual care for adults (18+) across multiple states. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, sleep disturbances, and postpartum mental health challenges. My approach is compassionate, empowering, and tailored to you—blending medication management with supportive therapy to help you feel understood, balanced, and in control of your mental health.
Our first session is all about you—your story, your goals, and how I can help. I’ll guide you through a thoughtful, conversational assessment where we explore what’s been going on, what’s worked or hasn’t, and what you’re hoping to change. You’ll have time to ask questions and feel heard. By the end, we’ll create a clear, personalized plan that may include medication, therapy support, lifestyle strategies, or all of the above—designed to help you feel more in control and less alone.
Clients describe me as warm, easy to talk to, and deeply attuned to their needs. I blend clinical expertise with real-life compassion—offering not just treatment, but partnership and perspective. I’m especially skilled at working with people who’ve tried therapy or medication before and want something that feels truly tailored and effective. I focus on clear communication, long-term support, and empowering clients to understand their mental health so they can live with more confidence and peace of mind.
I am best positioned to serve adults (18+) who are experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, sleep disorders, adjustment disorders, prolonged grief, and other mood-related conditions. I have specialized expertise in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, making me particularly well-suited to support individuals navigating mental health challenges during pregnancy and postpartum. Clients who benefit most from my approach are those seeking a collaborative, evidence-based treatment plan that integrates medication management with supportive therapy. I work well with individuals who value open communication, education about their mental health, and a personalized, holistic approach to care. Additionally, I collaborate closely with therapists to ensure continuity of care and a well-rounded support system. Whether clients are experiencing mild to severe symptoms, navigating life transitions, or struggling with emotional regulation, I strive to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where they feel empowered and supported on their path to wellness. Please note at this time, I do not prescribe any controlled substances outside the states of Florida, Maryland, Washington, or California.
I include supportive therapy as part of my approach to treatment because it provides clients with a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space to express their thoughts and emotions. Supportive therapy is beneficial as it helps clients build resilience, develop healthier coping strategies, and improve emotional regulation. It reinforces self-efficacy and personal strengths, which is especially important for those experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, and major life transitions. By integrating validation, encouragement, and practical problem-solving techniques, supportive therapy fosters a sense of stability and empowerment. When combined with medication management, it allows for a holistic and client-centered treatment plan that promotes long-term mental well-being.
Psychoeducation is a foundational part of my treatment approach. I use it to help clients better understand their diagnoses, medications, and the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In our sessions, I provide clear, supportive information tailored to each individual’s needs, empowering them to make informed decisions, recognize patterns, and actively participate in their recovery process. I believe that when clients understand why something is happening, they’re better equipped to manage it.
Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, goal-oriented approach I often use to help clients explore their ambivalence and strengthen their motivation for change. In my practice, I use this method to support clients who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about taking the next steps in their mental health journey. By creating a nonjudgmental space and asking open-ended questions, I help clients clarify their values, identify barriers, and build confidence in their ability to make meaningful, lasting changes.
