My name is Samantha and I am a therapist in Connecticut. I have been working in the mental health field for 10 years and have work with a wide range of individuals. I enjoy working with adults who are seeking to address family dysfunction, interpersonal conflict, life transitions, depression, and anxiety. I also have a passion for working with individuals of Caribbean descent.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In the first session, it might feel like you are talking a lot but YOU ARE NOT. This is a session for use to start discussing what brought you to therapy. The work begins with your story.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
During sessions I will be a friendly and warm presence. I can guarantee a safe space to lay your stressors down while providing some laughs in the process.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My clients are interested in living out what is discussed in the office and are also willing to give themselves the time to see growth in their lives.
Motivational Interviewing
I enjoy using this method as it gives room for curiosity and getting to know the client during the therapeutic process.
Compassion Focused
I like to assist clients in identifying the areas of their lives that were passed down to them and the negative judgement that exists around these areas
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
One of my missions is work with client who have parents who are immigrants from the Caribbean. I recognize that there is a shared experience of dysfunction that is present that perpetuate trauma.
EMDR
Trained in EMDR to address trauma as well as other challenges as an alternative to talk therapy. We can work together to assess if this is appropriate for you

It has taken me a very long time to rewrite my therapist / patient relationship as so many have "misheard" me, a burnt out mom who is just trying to survive, and actually let me drop my feelings safely with a healthy feedback. Therapy is crucial in healing and understanding. I am grateful I found my next safe space. Thank you Sam :)
