Samantha Aldridge
My name is Samantha and I am a therapist in Connecticut. I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years and have work with a wide range of individuals. I enjoy working with adults who are seeking to address family dysfunction, interpersonal conflict, life transitions, depression, and anxiety. I also have a passion for working with individuals of Caribbean descent.
First session
In the first session, it might feel like you are talking a lot but YOU ARE NOT. This is a session for use to start discussing what brought you to therapy. The work begins with your story.
Strengths
During sessions I will be a friendly and warm presence. I can guarantee a safe space to lay your stressors down while providing some laughs in the process.
Ideal clients
My clients are interested in living out what is discussed in the office and are also willing to give themselves the time to see growth in their lives. My clients are usually high achieving individuals (healthcare workers, first gen, immigrants, survivors) who a looking to prevent or recover from burnout. If you are looking to do the work to break the patterns that keep you sick, lets work together!
Treatment methods
Motivational Interviewing
I enjoy using this method as it gives room for curiosity and getting to know the client during the therapeutic process.
Compassion Focused
I like to assist clients in identifying the areas of their lives that were passed down to them and the negative judgement that exists around these areas
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
One of my missions is work with client who have parents who are immigrants from the Caribbean. I recognize that there is a shared experience of dysfunction that is present that perpetuate trauma.
