I am passionate about helping people heal and grow from their past and live an authentic life. I help adults experiencing depression, anxiety, life transitions (e.g. aging parents, menopause), childhood trauma and grief. My work includes helping people navigate relationships with emotionally unavailable/immature parents and adults. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a background in higher education and career counseling.
Generally, our first meeting will be a phone consultation--to see if we are a good fit to work together. In our first full session, we will explore what brings you to therapy now. Since I believe in addressing mind and body, we will also discuss your current health status (e.g. sleep, diet, chronic issues, medications). I strive to make the first session feel more like a relaxed conversation than an intake interview.
People feel at ease talking with me, comfortable enough to disclose things they haven’t shared before. I am skilled at creating a supportive space where clients feel understood and affirmed. I believe in honest and compassionate communication—telling the truth with kindness—especially when addressing difficult subjects.
I believe in addressing mind and body in therapy. My approach includes mindfulness and somatic practices, clinical nutrition, elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and internal family systems (IFS).
I am skilled at helping clients feel safe to explore and process challenging feelings and experiences. I do this through talk therapy, regulation practices (i.e. meditation, somatic exercises) and/or Brainspotting.
I see therapy as a healing journey: an opportunity to cultivate greater awareness, understanding and compassion for yourself and others. To facilitate this, the client plays an active role in our work—namely, by determining the topic of discussion each session.
