Hello, I'm Meagan. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Grief Counselor and I've been providing therapy for 7 years. I completed my Masters of Social Work in Mental Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago and also hold a BA in Social Work with minors in Psychology and Sociology from Purdue University. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and adults with trauma, complex bereavement, and mood disorders. I am also certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) . I utilize a Humanistic and Existential approach with clients while encouraging accountability and self-forgiveness. Currently, I am only accepting clients ages 18+.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session my focus is on creating a supportive and welcoming environment. I prioritize meeting clients where they are at whether that include jumping directly into goal setting or providing space to just share who they are as we build rapport.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My areas of specialty include; grief/bereavement, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and self-esteem. One of my greatest strengths is assisting clients in decreasing negative self-judgment and seeing situations as more than just black and white.

My treatment methods

Existential

Existential therapy focuses on exploring the deeper questions of life, such as meaning, freedom, responsibility, and mortality. Rather than solely focusing on symptoms or specific problems, I aim to help you explore the underlying existential concerns that may be contributing to your current challenges. One key aspect of existential therapy is embracing personal responsibility and agency. I believe that each individual has the power to create their own meaning and purpose in life, even in the face of adversity. Together, we'll explore ways to cultivate a sense of empowerment and authenticity, helping you to live in alignment with your values and aspirations.

Strength-Based

First and foremost, I believe in recognizing and celebrating your strengths, talents, and resilience. We'll start by exploring your past successes, moments of joy, and times when you've overcome obstacles. By shining a light on your strengths, we can harness them as powerful tools for growth and transformation.

Grief Therapy

I want to acknowledge that grief is a natural and universal response to loss, whether it be the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a major life transition, or any other significant loss. In our sessions, my primary goal is to provide you with a safe and compassionate space where you can explore your grief journey without judgment or pressure. One key aspect of grief counseling is helping you to understand and process your emotions. Grief can manifest in many different ways, including sadness, anger, guilt, anxiety, and even physical symptoms. Together, we'll work to identify and express these emotions in a healthy and constructive manner, allowing you to find relief and healing. Additionally, I believe in the importance of honoring and remembering the person or thing that has been lost. We'll explore rituals, ceremonies, and other meaningful ways to commemorate your loved one and keep their memory alive. This can be an essential part of the healing process, helping you to find comfort and closure as you navigate your grief. Another key aspect of grief counseling is providing practical support and coping strategies. I'll offer guidance on self-care practices, stress management techniques, and ways to navigate the challenges of daily life while grieving. We'll also explore strategies for building a support network and seeking help from friends, family, or other resources when needed. Ultimately, my role as a grief counselor is to walk alongside you on your journey of healing and transformation. While I can't take away your pain or make the grief disappear, I can offer you empathy, support, and guidance as you navigate this difficult time. Together, we'll work towards finding meaning, acceptance, and a sense of peace amidst the pain of loss.
