Hello there, my name is Dr. Lauren Serdencuk and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Florida. I obtained a Bachelors degree in Psychology from CUNY Queens College, a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mercy College, and a PhD from Nova Southeastern University. I am also a Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) in the state of Florida. My specialties include Substance Abuse, Chronic Illness, Depression, Family Conflicts, and Anxiety. I recently worked with incarcerated women at a FL state prison and enjoyed the experience. I come from a Solution-Focused approach, meaning we explore solutions for the future rather than focusing on the past. I provide a safe, non-biased, and casual environment to assist clients feel comfortable and at ease. I find it to be very important for clients to feel connected to their therapists and I am always checking in with my clients to assure I am meeting their expectations. I think I can help you if you are desiring change, are willing to take on challenges, and exploring new possibilities. Together, we can collaborate and create a plan you are hoping to put into action! In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the obstacles that are prohibiting you from achieving your goals. Let's do this!
Our first session will include a brief introduction and I will review HIPAA with you. I will inquire if you have any questions and if you have any prior experience with therapy. I also provide information about the flow of therapy sessions and how I generally practice.
I feel the areas that are my highlighted strengths include respecting and supporting clients, listening and reflecting, understanding concerns, and collaborating with clients.
I have worked with individuals aged 5-82 years old. I have worked in several environments including, prison, substance abuse treatment centers, inpatient and outpatient settings, and in residences of clients. I do love working with children and adolescents and love when parents/ guardians are willing to assist in the positive change. I am best positioned to serve individual clients, groups, and families because those are my specialty populations. With that being said, although I have some experience with couples therapy, I do not specialize in that modality.
I do believe there is a solution to every issue. The solution may not be ideal or our first choice, but there is a way out. While implementing Solution Focused modalities, clients may gain more hope and positive thinking.
