I've been in private practice for over ten years, which was a dream when I was young. Doing the work that I love is very fulfilling. I feel fortunate to have been a part of my client's journey to healing their relationship with food and their body. The majority of my practice serves individuals with eating disorders. For years, I was the only Certified Eating Disorder Specialist in Chester County. Over the past few years, I have worked with family members as they support their loved ones on their recovery journey.
During the first session, focus on gathering information on what leads clients to seek counseling. The focus is on disordered eating and mental health history. Family and relationship history is also a part of the early sessions.
My sessions tend to be conversational. Over the years, I've found that this helps clients to relax and not feel overwhelmed about sharing their stories.
In 2004 I started working in the eating disorder community. This was an aspiration and I persisted until I was hired by the Renfrew Center. My training and experiences there laid the foundation for the work that I do today. Eating disorders are nuanced and differ with each client. My approach is tailored to meet each client's needs and goals.
I draw from several approaches including attachment theory, DBT, CBT, Rogerian, psychoanalytic.
