Gary A. McRae, LCSW as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring 8 years of experience in working as a therapist with a variety of clients including adolescents, young adults, couples, middle aged adults and seniors. I bring a client-centered, evidence-based approach that is enhanced by up-to-date trainings to empower clients to better mental health. My social work career also includes 12 years working in a Residential Treatment Center for children where I had varying roles and experiences including as a Youth Care Worker, Family Service Coordinator, and Director of a Foster Care Program and of course providing therapy services for residents and also community-based clients. My years of working in the social field, along with my extensive life experience has prepared me to come along side of clients who might be going through some of the obstacles and challenges that life can bring.
In a first session with me, a client may expect to be put at ease about seeing a new therapist. I bring a down-to-earth approach to my professionalism so that they might feel confident in my ability to help them.
My life experience is my greatest strength, it allows me to be empathic to many of the problems that clients bring my way.
I believe that I can best help people who are struggling with anxieties and stress built up simply from daily living that can disrupt their harmony and peace.
I find that utilizing CBT as a treatment modem helps clients to identify the issues they are struggling with and helps them to better manage their thoughts and feelings and find the solutions they are searching.
As a client-centered therapy method to help clients to be motivated to change behaviors and make healthier choices,
I have had success with couples counseling by help clients come back together to re-learn the communication styles that brought them together in the first place.
