Hello! I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania. I received my master's degree from Clarion University and have a total of six years of experience across both my graduate and undergraduate degrees in the mental health field as a counselor. I have worked with all age ranges in several settings such as pre-schools, elementary/high schools, personal homes/communities, and nursing facilities alike.
For our first session, we will work on some brief and typical introductions that to will help lead into discussions involving areas of focus that you wish to develop/work on in therapy. We will also discuss elements of your intake documentation where appropriate to help further develop your measurable goals that you wish to work towards for the future. This will be a development that we work on and collaborate with together as a team!
I have personally worked with children, adolescents, and families for several years and have developed a toolkit to aid in working with challenging areas of deficit such as compliance, attending, prosocial, and development of emotion regulation skills. Due to these areas of focus, I can confidently say that concepts such as anxiety, depression, and conduct-related disorders area all areas of strength for me.
This is the primary modality of treatment that I utilize when working on reframing and refocusing specific thinking or behavioral tendencies that impede on your daily life. I do this in tandem with you by working/developing realistic and measurable goals to help us understand where you need and want to be in order for you feel confident with your personal development.
To give a brief summarization of my approach and scope of study, I have worked extensively to hone my understanding and implementation of mindfulness-based modalities of treatment under the theorist known as Gestalt. The concept of this modality of treatment is that it focuses on the "here and now" and how to effectively reframe thinking patterns that could be result of things such as trauma, depression, anxiety, etc.
With regard to children and younger adolescents, I have several years of experience working with ages from four to sixteen years of age. This can take the form of play therapy techniques in tandem with social-emotional learning, prosocial skill development, and mindfulness-based training where appropriate.
