(she/her)
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of experience helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges with clarity, resilience, and purpose. I bring a compassionate, straightforward approach to therapy, creating a supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful change. In addition to clinical work, I am a former school guidance counselor with extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and families through academic, social, and emotional challenges. I understand the complexities of the educational system and helps clients navigate school-related concerns, including behavioral issues, stress, transitions, and family-school dynamics. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based approach effective in treating trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences. I also completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in the Gottman Method, allowing her to effectively support couples in improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening their relationships. My clinical approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, helping clients identify unhelpful patterns, develop practical coping strategies, and focus on achievable goals. I am committed to helping clients move forward with confidence, whether they are working through trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, or personal growth.
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other in a comfortable, supportive space. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to gain from the process. I’ll ask some guiding questions to better understand your situation and begin identifying goals, while also explaining how I work and the approaches I use. You’re welcome to ask questions at any time—this is about making sure you feel comfortable and supported as we move forward together.
I have a strong ability to build trust and rapport with clients. I am a compassionate, direct, and solution-focused therapist with an expertise in trauma-informed care

I had been thinking about doing therapy for years and I found Twyla and she was so intelligent, articulate, open-minded, and very easy to talk with. She helped me to develop skills that were useful in my everyday life. If you’re considering therapy definitely consider her because she can help you to understand yourself as well as others.

Twyla is such a good therapist. We enjoyed and still enjoy her as our couple's therapist. Therapy with her feels like family.
